Chapter 107: Tournament Invitation

During the meeting, I summarized everything that happened during my travel towards Ziyou Shelter. Luo Zehn and Liu Zhi's party were there to confirm the events so it made explaining a  little bit easier compared to before.

Well, before there really was no time to explain since Shen Rong just attacked me out of nowhere. I mean, I get where he's coming from but isn't it unconventional to attack someone out of the blue without hearing his side?

I wonder what he experienced in the past that made him too hostile towards the Dark Element. I mean, it's probably not worse than what I experienced. The Dark Element literally robbed me of my Sect and my life. And right now, after five years, I still haven't recovered from it.

Now that would be a good reason to be so against the Dark Element.

After discussing our journey and what happened to the two territorial hordes that we met, I then relayed the story about the cannibalistic Si Shelter and how I met Yang Chen there. Then, with the promise of rescuing his daughter, I ventured towards Ziyou Shelter and uncovered the truth about the Forsaken Tree which fed off of little children's pure Qi Energy just so it could nurture a Spirit Beast that was developing under Ziyou Shelter.

I have no idea how many children they've sacrificed to that tree but if they were doing it for the past three years, then it's probably more than a hundred. In my opinion, that Shelter had all the rights to be removed from the face of the earth. They were far more twisted than the cannibalistic Si Shelter.

"I never knew about that. So that Forsaken Tree was the one that kept all the zombies around the shelter at bay. But because of that, it destroyed the shelter from the inside since all the children were sacrificed to it. Once again, Yong Rui, I deeply apologize for what happened earlier. If it weren't for you, then Ziyou Shelter wouldn't have been stopped and we wouldn't have known about their practices." Shen Rong continued.

I cupped my hands in return.

Suddenly, a cold gust of wind erupted nearby and before I knew it, Yang Mei Mei was sitting on my lap, facing me as she tugged at my shirt. "You know my dad?! How is he? Is he alive? Where is he?!"

There were tears streaming down Yang Mei Mei's eyes as she tugged at my shirt and cried her heart out. We didn't even notice where she came from more like, I was the only one who saw her and she already caught us off-guard. She was probably listening somewhere nearby and overheard the story about his dad.

"Sorry, I didn't tell you anything about it, Yang Mei Mei," I said, patting her head. It was supposed to be dinner but it turned into a deep subject about Shelters and rabid humans. "And don't worry about your father, he's alive. He managed to reach Tang Shelter with the help of Luo Zehn over there. Also, he was the one who asked us for a favor. If he wasn't alive, then we wouldn't have known anything about you nor the state Ziyou Shelter was in."

"Papa, he was a good person. He probably tried to rescue me. That's why he- he ended up like that." Yang Mei Mei mumbled as she bawled her eyes out on my shirt.

Something inside me was telling me to make her stop crying and to push her away from me. However, I held that urge and decided to console her by patting her on the head. She and her father have gone through so much. This is the least I could do.

"Yongrui, Yongrui," Hui-ying called out. "Your heart rate is going up. Are you all right? Do you feel something wrong in your body?" There was a hint of teasing in her voice so I gave her an imaginary nudge in my mind.

"I know, I know you don't have to tell me," I said in my mind.

"And also, Yongrui,"

"What is it this time?"

"You became unconscious when you were fighting in Ziyou Shelter, right? Also, the System showed you something. While that was happening, the System gave you a few rewards for finishing the Ziyou Shelter Bonus Quest and a lot of other rewards for leveling up in cultivation and system level."

So my rewards are really piling up, huh. I guess it was Hui-ying's indirect way to tell me to access my inbox in the System and get all my rewards. Also, I should use everything I can and give out everything I have from my storage rings since they're all just rotting in there.

While I continued thinking about these things, Shen Rong and the others were all awkwardly staring at each other since there was nothing for them to speak about anymore. Shen Rong kept on lifting his head up and bowing it down as he tried to think of a new topic.

"Oh, I just realized, Yong Rui. Aren't you in the King Realm right now?" Shen Rong asked. "Well, that may not be your actual cultivation level but right now, I'm sensing that you've broken through the King Realm, right?"

I was about to tell Shen Rong that I was actually already in my Ancient Realm when I realized that most people wouldn't sense my cultivation level and instead, sense the cultivation level of my Original Qi Core which is currently on the First-Level of the King Realm.

"Y-yes, I just broke through when I was in Ziyou Shelter," I answered.

"Well, figures, since you single-handedly defeated everyone in Ziyou Shelter and stopped the Rush Hour from continuing." Shen Rong continued.

"Yes,"

'And when would you stop clinging to me, Yang Mei Mei?' I thought to myself as I glanced towards her from time to time.

Shen Rong cleared his throat to attract my attention. "Then, would you like to participate in the Red Sea Tournament two days from now?" Shen Rong asked.
