Chapter 44: Story 44: The Scarecrow’s Vengeance
Ethan Parker stood at the edge of his family’s cornfield, the cold autumn wind rustling through the golden stalks. The moon hung low in the sky, casting an eerie glow over the landscape. The scarecrow, meant to protect the crops, now loomed menacingly, its glowing eyes watching over the field with a sinister intensity.
It had been a difficult year for Ethan. The crops had withered, and the animals had fallen sick. The villagers whispered about a curse, but Ethan refused to believe in such superstitions. Desperation, however, forced him to seek out Old Man Gregory, who lived on the outskirts of the village.
"The scarecrow," Gregory began, his voice a gravelly whisper, "was crafted from the remains of an old warlock who cursed this land. It is said that on nights like this, under the full moon, he returns to seek vengeance." Enjoy more content from мѵʟ
Ethan’s heart raced. He had always dismissed the old tales as nonsense, but the recent events had shaken his skepticism. Determined to protect his family’s legacy, he decided to face the scarecrow and end the curse once and for all.
That night, armed with a pitchfork, Ethan ventured into the cornfield. The air was thick with tension, the only sound being the cawing of a lone raven circling above. As he approached the scarecrow, its eyes seemed to burn brighter, and the ground beneath him trembled.
"Leave this place!" a voice echoed through the field, sending chills down Ethan’s spine. But he stood his ground, plunging the pitchfork into the earth. The scarecrow’s form twisted and writhed, the dark magic that held it together beginning to unravel.
Suddenly, the raven swooped down, landing on Ethan’s shoulder. Its eyes, as black as the night, stared into his. "The curse can only be broken by fire," it seemed to say.
With newfound resolve, Ethan set the scarecrow ablaze. Flames danced around him, illuminating the field in a haunting glow. The scarecrow’s agonized screams filled the night air before it finally crumbled into ash.
As the fire died down, the land seemed to sigh in relief. The crops began to revive, and the animals regained their health. Ethan had broken the curse, but the memory of that night remained etched in his mind.
He often thought of the scarecrow and the price of vengeance. The raven still visited him, a silent reminder of the darkness that once loomed over the farm. But Ethan knew he had done what was necessary to save his family’s legacy, and for that, he was at peace.

In the quiet of the night, the farm stood serene, free from the shadow of the scarecrow’s vengeance. And Ethan, though forever changed, found solace in the promise of a new dawn.
