Chapter 10: Story 10: The Haunted Rescue
As seasoned seamen, we knew the ocean’s moods well. On a clear day, my men and I were fishing, the waters calm and serene. Suddenly, the waves began to swell, rising ominously. We couldn’t understand the abrupt change. Before we could escape to the coast, a violent storm overtook us. The waves, as furious as bulls, smashed against our boats, throwing us into the sea.
Desperate and struggling against the tempest, we spotted an old ship looming in the distance. We called out for help, and the ship drew closer, lowering a ladder for us to climb aboard. We scrambled onto the deck, eager to thank our rescuers, but an eerie silence greeted us. The crew, faces hidden, stood motionless.
Suddenly, one man revealed his face, and we recoiled in horror—it was a ghost. One by one, the spectral crew emerged, their haunted expressions hinting at past battles. Their leader ordered them to seize us, and we had no choice but to leap back into the turbulent sea. The ghosts pursued us, but the sea was our second home. We swam with all our might, evading their grasp.
Finally, our fellow seamen arrived and rescued us from the ghostly ship. Exhausted but safe, we recounted our harrowing encounter with the spectral crew, vowing never to forget the night the sea revealed its haunted past.
