Chapter 40
C40 – Loudspeaker
“He has the nerve to act so arrogantly in front of me. He’s asking for trouble.”
The following day, in a joint classroom, Zhao Hao looked down at the teacher editing test papers on a computer with an air of superiority.
“Did he actually cheat?” Zhao Hao asked Cao Faang, a hint of unease in his voice.
Cao Faang cast a glance at the teacher below and replied with a cold look, “Do you think I wouldn’t know his capabilities?”
“Even if he got lucky, there’s no way he could jump from the very bottom to the top 100. So, he definitely cheated on this baseline test.”
Zhao Hao’s expression grew even more smug upon seeing Cao Faang’s assured demeanor.
“Director Zhao.” Zhao Hao and Cao Faang had formed a temporary alliance, but Cao Faang didn’t want to miss the chance to curry favor. She had come up with a particularly malicious plan.
“What is it?” Zhao Hao had only a slight recollection of Cao Faang. They had teamed up temporarily because Zhao Hao believed Cao Faang had a good understanding of Qi Ning.
“I’ve got an idea!”
She then whispered her plan into Zhao Hao’s ear.
After hearing it, Zhao Hao’s eyes sparkled with approval. “That’s an excellent idea. You’re going places!”
Cao Faang’s face broke into a triumphant smile at his praise.
During the lunch break, the school’s PA system crackled to life.
“The senior class has encountered a case of suspected plagiarism during the final baseline examination. Therefore, the teaching director has decided to clear the student’s name by holding a monitored test in the auditorium tomorrow at noon.”
“To demonstrate the school’s commitment to fairness, we will invite 100 students to oversee the examination.”
The announcement ended, and an eerie quiet settled over the school.
“What’s happening?”
“Who do you think it is?”
“The teaching director is letting students proctor the exam!”
“I bet he’s trying to give a hard time to a particular student again!”
Speculation buzzed through the school.
Qi Ning, upon hearing the announcement, wore a look of resignation.
“Is this about you?” In Class 3, Pang Yuejuan entered.
Because of Qi Ning, nobody in Class 3 dared to cross Pang Yuejuan.
“Yes,” Qi Ning nodded, gazing out the window. “I can’t fathom what the teaching director is thinking. Does he really want to add to the embarrassment?”
“Did you actually cheat or not?” Pang Yuejuan asked, her concern evident as she observed Qi Ning’s nonchalant demeanor.
Qi Ning replied with a smile, “I didn’t cheat. Put in a request, and I promise you’ll be in for quite the spectacle tomorrow!”
“A spectacle?” Pang Yuejuan seemed to catch on, her eyes widening in astonishment as she stared at Qi Ning.
He nodded affirmatively. “If they’re expecting to see me embarrass myself tomorrow, I intend to put on quite the performance.”
Pang Yuejuan regarded Qi Ning with a peculiar look.
She noticed that there was something distinctly different about him.
She found herself eagerly anticipating what tomorrow would bring.
