Chapter 352: Chapter 352 – Stopping the Behemoth [2]

"Shit! Dodge!"

Jamal's voice was filled with urgency as he threw a rope made from the monster's fur toward a rock jutting out of Behemoth's body as a large arm closed in. The rope tied nicely, and he grabbed Max before pulling it, altering their course in the air.

"Whoa!"

Suddenly moving at a fast speed, Max let out a surprised voice. He still couldn't process what happened. As soon as his body was pulled by Jamal, a large gust of wind threw them right toward Behemoth's body.

Both of them rolled on the hot, sharp rocks before stopping by a large boulder. Bruises filled their bodies. However, miraculously, Max didn't feel pain at all as if the sensitivity was forcibly altered due to the forced event.

Still, that didn't mean the alteration worked permanently. Just as he moved, the bruises created from the rolling earlier began to sting. He immediately drank a health potion to heal them.

"You okay, newbie?"

Max heard Jamal's voice from the side and turned around. The yapper had an empty vial in his hand. He also drank a health potion to heal his body.

"I am okay." Max answered as he stood up, "What happened? I just saw Behemoth move its hand and then a strong wind blew us away."

"It's Behemoth's hand. It just thought we were bugs and tried to shoo us away."

"Shoo us away?" Max asked, wearing a wry smile.

"Yes. Just like this." Jamal moved his hand over his shoulders as if he was chasing away a fly. "And he got 4 flies, killing them. Shit… I should be more careful. Now there are only two of us left. We need to destroy the spike as soon as possible so there won't be more casualties."

Just a simple movement killed 4 people. Max felt his blood turn cold just by imagining it. This was a game, but the horror was real.

"This is a Colossal-Class monster…" He muttered under his breath as he looked at the ground he was standing on. It was shaking greatly. "And I am on his back."

— Behemoth be like: There are bugs, let's chase them away

— It casually kills 4 strong mercenaries… This monster is nuts.

— Nah, will Caesar be able to chase it away? I doubt it now

— Humans are flies… Now I am curious how big the spike Breeze has to destroy. I never watched Mercenary Quest before

— Go, Breeze. It's not the time to stand around!

The chat was correct. It wasn't the time to appreciate it. As soon as he stepped on the Behemoth's body, a countdown started ticking.

[Countdown: 00:28:27]

Jamal stood up, dusting his clothes. He grabbed his dual daggers and looked at Max.

"Let's go, newbie. You see that jutting rock down there? The spike we have to destroy is inside. Leave the Small-Class monster to me. Just run at your full speed toward that area. Be careful of Behemoth's movement, though.

Sometimes, you have to grab onto a rock and hang for a while when it hunches its back."

Taking the warning to his heart, Max nodded to Jamal. They began to run toward the large rock that looked like a small mountain in the distance.

When they got into a rocky area, located further down the shoulder area where they stood, some monsters began to appear. They were 3-meter big Raxor and Garrador, two monsters that Max had seen before. It was amazing that both species could live here, but Max had no time to think about that.

He gripped his sword tightly, ready to combat them. But…

"Just focus on running, newbie! Your sword will be perfect to destroy the spike, don't chip it against those small fries!"

Jamal ran past him like a gust of wind and swung his large daggers many times. From an outside perspective, it was as if the yapper was dancing with the monsters. When he stopped and continued running, Raxor the kangaroo and Garrador the goose were cut into pieces.

"… Is it so easy to kill them? He cut them as if they were butter."

— Jamal the Yapper! Long live!

— He's so strong and quick. His daggers are also so sharp

— WORSHIP HIM, MORTAL! He's trusted by Caesar to lead a group. Trusted by Caesar = strong! You're the man!

— You need to step up your game, Breeze!

Saying Jamal was strong would be an underestimation. When three Raxors jumped at Max, the yapper appeared from the side and cut them all while laughing. He did that to forget the grief from losing 4 mercenaries under him.

"Come on, newbie! Faster! Faster!"

"I am trying!"

Even while Max ran at full speed, he was still behind Jamal. This was the first time he was slower than anyone else. And it was somehow frustrating.

"Goddamit! How is he so fast? Does eating monster meat increase your body strength?" He complained loudly as he looked at the camera. "Scientist! You better develop a meal that can increase our strength! Make us superhuman!"

— lol he complained to a scientist

— He wanted to be superhuman in real life lol

— Unfortunately, that hope is forever lost. A superhuman experiment is banned. The world didn't want to see people destroy public facilities with a punch.

— As much as I want to be superhuman, I don't want the first supervillain to appear. No thanks!

— Just roleplay as a superhuman in the VR game. That would be enough to satisfy you.

"For your information, my current character is a superhuman. But I lost to that yapper in terms of speed, which I prided myself on the most!"

The truth was sad. Some NPCs were usually stronger than the player. However, they still wouldn't be able to beat them, as there was something called plot and the player had plot armor which was the strongest shield in the universe.

And no matter how strong the NPC was, they were bound to make an intentional mistake. A monster that looked like a large monkey sprung up behind Max. He noticed it due to the sound and quickly turned around, hacking its neck with his tusk sword.

While he couldn't deliver a clean cut, it was enough to send the monkey flying. Looking at what happened, Max had a guess.

'I have become stronger?'

Maybe it was just his imagination. But facing a Small-Class monster was hard for him before he changed equipment.

'Yeah, my body has also become stronger. Is this caused by the story progression or the fact I have killed a Medium-Class monster? I don't know, but this is great. Though, I am still not as fast as Jamal.'

"Not bad, newbie. You handled that like a pro."

The said person appeared next to him and praised him with a good-natured smile.

"However, it's now the main part. Unfortunately, we have no leeway to chat."

Jamal's expression turned rigid and serious as he looked forward. Following his gaze, Max found the large rock right in front of his eyes. The entrance was located way up, they had to climb this up.

However…

"Yeah, this is hard."

Many monsters appeared from the hole in the large rock. They looked like a mole with a drill on their heads. While they looked soft, weak, and small, their large numbers and the terrain would prove a problem.

At that moment…
