"Thank you for the 500. I don't know anything about hunting with a mount yet, so I can't say I won't injure him. But trust me. I will not use Blackie as bait." Max reassured the viewers as he entered Old Man Rig's stable.

He quickly found the old man sitting in a box near the entrance, just as he found the grumpy man the first time.

"Good afternoon, Mr. Rig." Max greeted the old man with a refreshing smile. He knew that something like this worked with NPC, especially a grumpy man like Rig.

The old man huffed and turned to him, "What do you need, young fool? Are you here to take your pet for a walk?"

His response was swift and experienced, as if anyone who visited him had asked the same question.

"That's right. I have a mission to hunt Altacroz near Cuckoo's nest in the west. It seems the monster is disturbing the ecosystem. I need Blackie to reach the place faster."

"Hmm, I have heard that." Old Man Rig jumped off his wooden box and turned around, "Wait here. I will get your pet."

Max watched as the old man walked inside without asking extra questions. He stood there, waiting for the old man that returned with Blackie in less than a minute.

"Nyaa~!"

Upon seeing him, Blackie jumped and rushed forward. It nuzzled its nose against his face as its three tails moved around happily behind.

"Hahaha, did you miss me, Blackie? It's just a few hours since I left you."

"Meow!"

The Catlapu acted really spoiled and kept rubbing its cheek against him, seemingly comfortable with his presence. Was it instinct or something, he didn't know. But he appreciated the soft fur.

"Keh! Don't just stand around in my entrance, young fool! Go, you have a monster to hunt. And you, pet. Get down!"

Old Man Rig disturbed their bonding with a hoarse voice. Blackie stopped at once and lowered its body after hearing the old man's command as if gesturing for Max to get up.

"Meow~"

"Please don't rush me, Mr. Rig. I want to enjoy this a little." Max sighed in defeat as he walked next to Blackie. "But, yeah. I need to hurry. Thanks, Mr.

Rig."

"Hah! No need to say thanks. Just get out of my stable now."

"Hahaha, I will. Let's go, Blackie!"

Laughing, Max jumped on Blackie and sat on the saddle. The Catlapu stood up and purred before running at full speed. Miraculously, even when he didn't hold onto the stable, his body was stable and wasn't affected by the wind, except for his fluttering hair and fur armor.

Ignoring the chat, Max commanded Blackie to go to the west gate. Commanding Blackie was pretty easy.

"Go left!"

Blackie turned left.

"Go right!"

Blackie turned right.

"Hahaha, it's fun."

Voice command was the preferred way rather than using a rein. Some people might prefer to do it manually, but Max was someone who was bad at driving or riding something. So, this was better for him.

In just a few seconds, he reached the gate and exited the city. No one guarded the place, as the wall only served as protection against monsters.

An exceptional scenery lay as soon as he stepped out of the gate. The wind felt great on his face, and the feeling of moving at high speed pumped his adrenaline.

Taking a quick look at his surroundings, Max was able to see the mountain that Mr. Branch talked about. He patted Blackie and commanded it.

"Go to that mountain. Full speed ahead."

"Meow!"

Listening to his command, Blackie increased its speed. It went at full speed, twice as fast as when it was inside the city.

The scenery became a blur. Before Max realized it, he was already close to the mountain, arriving at the base just before the forest.

He blinked a few times, confused.

"Is that a skip feature too?" He asked himself.

"Nya!"

Blackie's voice pulled him out of his thoughts, and he noticed the chat went as usual.

Max immediately looked to the left as he read the last chat. Inside the forest, he could see a large white shadow moving at a fast speed. It was a blur, but he managed to see its general shape when it passed an area sparse of trees.

"A large chicken?" He exclaimed, unable to contain his surprise. "Cuckoo is a meter large chicken?!"

That was why they could lay eggs every day, and their meat was valuable. If the chicken population around a large city decreased because of a monster, that would be a disaster for everyday life. Not only that, the ecosystem would change, and new monsters would take place.

"I am surprised that mercenaries won't kill Altacroz before it becomes a problem. I heard they only take 'urgent' missions, but I wonder why. Is it because an urgent mission pays more?"

The chat's explanation made sense, eliciting a nod from Max. That satisfied him, but he still wanted to find a library or book that could explain this world's lore. The more he learned about it, the more interesting it became.
