Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle

Chapter 141: Return

Although it would be difficult for them to shoot from their angle, it was enough to deter the person in the watchtower!

Or, at the very least, that was their plan. They wanted to use suppression fire in order to get Max near the gate and destroy it without any interference from the crossbowman on the tower.

Thud! Thud!

However, something unexpected happened, it was blocked by a barrier that shouldn't be there!

The two Scouts, including the leader didn't notice this barrier at all!

"What's that?" Stroud muttered as he felt bothered by the barrier.

"It's fine! I'll destroy it!" Max shouted, filled with confidence in his current physique and talent.

At this time, the person in the watchtower used the bell to warn its allies!

As he saw that the barrier successfully stopped the bullets from hitting him, his confidence grew as he pulled his crossbow and shot at them!

Twang!

It was aimed at the huge guy in front and was pointed perfectly on their head! Even the man in the watchtower felt surprised by his accuracy, but as the bolt was about to hit Max, it suddenly stopped mid-air!

Layla used her Telekinesis to stop the arrow bolt from hitting her companion!

Then, the others with handguns got to the main gate, hoping to weaken its defenses or barrier before Max clashed with it.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

The four with handguns fired in unison, the sound of gunshots tearing through the silence in the forest.

Thud… Thud… Thud…

The bullets, however, were still met by an unseen barrier, the Bulwark Beacon's force field deflecting them with ease!

Then, while this was happening, the estate's defenders rallied. Their earlier battle with the undead had prepared them for such an emergency.

Lucas, stood at the forefront, the Master-Grade Gideon's Blade ready in his left hand, and the pistol on his right hand.

"Come!" Lucas roared as he waited for their barrier to break.

In the meantime, outside their estate. The Bulwark Beacon's barrier actually held firm, its force field stood strong against the barrage of the group of invaders!

Max, the Warrior, his muscles bulging with each stride, charged at the barrier with a roar that echoed through the trees.

Boom!

His fists, hardened by his gauntlet, pounded against the energy shield. The force field flickered under the assault but held strong, a testament to its design and the power coursing through its veins.

It also shows how strong those three Violent Leapers were!

Nonetheless, seeing that Max was having a hard time than they expected, the others joined in, as they aimed their weapons at the barrier.

"Tsk… This is taking too much time… Step back!"

Stroud, the Aura Master, finally stepped forward.

His presence was commanding amidst his restless companions.

He extended his hands, and his Aura coalesced into his blade.

Then, with a wave of his hand, he sliced at the barrier and met with some resistance…

The barrier wobbled, and it seemed that he was just short with a little strength to cut through it.

Yet, the barrier stood defiant. Its force was still unwavering, leaving up to its name as a beacon of the estate's resilience.

Stroud's brow furrowed as he realized the stronghold's defenses were far from weakened. Doubt crept into his mind, the seed of retreat taking root.

'Although it is true that they're attacked by numerous Jumper Zombies, it doesn't mean that they were really weakened.' Stroud thought as he felt something was off.

'However, according to the scouts, they only sensed more than 10 people in the estate. They shouldn't be doing well right now if they faced 30 or so Jumper Zombies… This should still be a perfect opportunity.

He tried to reason in his mind, but the fact that the barrier was still strong, he couldn't help but rethink their plans.

He then looked at his companions and was about to voice his opinion.

However, before he could call for withdrawal, the wooden gate creaked open.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Several shots rained on the invaders as the people of the estate defended themselves.

However, Layla showed her Master-Grade Telekinesis as she stopped all the bullets aimed at them!

Nonetheless, Layla was also pushing her limits, so her companions quickly acted to protect her!

Lucas, seizing the moment, charged through the opening, his blade humming through the air!

Gene was beside him as they targeted the tall man who was in front of the invaders!

Since guns didn't seem to be effective, they had to adapt and use their swords instead!

The Super Soldiers also erupted from their hiding places as they joined the battle!

Max, caught off guard, swung wildly, his strength formidable but unfocused.

Gene and Lucas dodged on the side, and as soon as they did it, Cassius, one of the Super Soldiers, took his chance to tackle Max!

"Tsk…"

Gene frowned at this as he wanted to fight the vanguard of the invaders. However, now that he was entangled by Cassius, Gene had to switch his targets!

Lucas thought the same as the battle continued!

The Super Soldiers were also behind them, their crowbars ready to crush their enemies!

Stroud, realizing the tide had turned, rallied his forces.

"To me!" he bellowed, his Aura then started flaring with renewed intensity. Then, he released his Aura Blade in hopes of cutting Lucas! However, with his Master-Grade Gideon's Blade, he deflected the attack!

His Aura Blade, which had never failed him, even against strong Zombies, was easily dealt with!

Stroud, with a sense of desperation creeping into his calculated demeanor, reached into his cloak and produced a small canister.

With a swift motion, he activated the device, releasing a cloud of sleeping gas—a treacherous mist that began to seep through the battlefield.

This was one of his best purchases in the Survivor Store!

The wind seemed to have become his ally as it carried the sleep-inducing vapors towards the estate's defenders.

"Retreat!" he commanded, his voice cutting through the chaos as he made the difficult decision to abandon Max. The Aura Master knew when a battle was lost, and survival was paramount.

However, amidst the turmoil, a new figure appeared inside the estate—Shane, the leader of the Eclipse Revenant Clan and the owner of the estate, had finally arrived!
