Chapter 144 Air Of Mystery
Chapter 144 Air Of Mystery
Getting out of the SUV he had been chauffeured in and watching it drive off, Xavier headed into the dojo. He was surprised to find that everyone had already gathered. However, immediately upon entering, he was bombarded with questions by the unit leaders. They couldn't suppress their curiosity, especially after seeing the state he was in and what he was wearing, but Xavier quickly shut them down.
"Slow down, all will be explained. I just called you all here today to finalise how we are planning to take down the 2 small gangs that I have decided will be our first targets."
Calming down and preparing to listen attentively, knowing that what he was about to tell them was of importance and that things were serious, they allowed Xavier to continue.
"We should be receiving the supplies we need by the end of the night. Any other supplies you might require, just let me know and I can get them for you. As for who will be doing what, I want Zack to be on standby the entire night. We need you to oversee things."
"Connor, your unit will also be on standby," decided Xavier, who could clearly see the disappointed but also relieved expressions on the faces of those in Connor's unit.
"Sam, your unit will deal with the Cobalt Crew. And Achara, your unit will deal with the Armed Crooks. They are small gangs and won't be prepared, but never underestimate your enemy and all it takes is a pull of a trigger for your life to be over."
Xavier knew that for himself after his experience the past night, which only caused him to urge those in the Outlaw Gang to be more careful. However, he also wanted to make it clear that getting blood on their hands was possible, and when it came down to it, they couldn't hesitate.
"We're doing a sudden and hostile takeover essentially. Take them down, unarm them, confiscate anything of value, and get them to sign over any assets or properties to the false identities that Zack has prepared. Any questions about that, ask him. But in the heat of the moment, if necessary, attack without hesitation, unless you would prefer yourself or one of your own to suffer and even die instead."
"Any information you need on them, you can also find with Zack. And in this operation, you listen to the unit leader above all else. Only when your life or that of another is at risk are you allowed to move on your own, but be careful. We won't be losing anyone, especially not to some small local gangs."
With that, he informed them that they would receive a military-grade knife and firearm equipped with a silencer each, as well as light kevlar vests and a van for each unit. Connor's unit would spread around the area and prepare to provide support if needed or alert them to any police or other hostiles.
Zack would also act as their eyes and ears and would connect them all to an untraceable network that connected all their earpieces. Xavier had also ordered them from Jasmine and had thought up as many possible scenarios as he could, then decided on their appropriate course of action based on them.
And what he found was that, arguably, Zack's position in it all was the most important. This was along with Karim's unit, which, after everything happened, would start to spread rumours about the Outlaw Gang within their network of youths. Xavier didn't want to place a target on his back. However, he also had to get the name of his gang out there, and what better way to start doing so than within high schools around the city?
-
The plan was concise, but strong enough for those in the Outlaw Gang to feel confident about. They also had complete trust and belief in their unit leaders and Xavier himself, but there was just one question that all of them had on their minds.
What exactly would Xavier be doing?
They weren't thinking that he was backing out or was too scared to do things himself. It was hard to imagine the reckless, brave, and skilled Xavier capable of doing such a thing. However, they couldn't help but be curious about what he was planning on doing.
Noticing that, Xavier began unbuttoning his shirt and wanted to be as transparent as he could with everyone. There was no point trying to hide it, and it seemed as though a few of them had noticed that he wasn't in the best physical condition anyway.
It was already unusual that Xavier was wearing such formal clothes that clearly weren't his, which left the unit leaders curious as to what exactly had happened the night before. That curiosity increased even further when they saw the bullet wounds that he had, as well as the gun and knife that were attached to his waist under his shirt.
The weapons were concealed well to the point they were barely noticeable and glossed over by most as merely a small bulge in his shirt. As for the bullet wounds, they were meticulously stitched and covered in bandages, which just served to show how skilled the doctors working at the Numbers were.
However, that didn't change the fact that he had a gun and that he had 2 bullet wounds.
'Just what the hell happened?' they couldn't help but think to themselves.
And how the hell was he still moving and nonchalant about being shot?!
-
Buttoning his shirt back up, Xavier recalled the feeling of thick, warm blood splattering onto his hands after he slit the neck of the final assassin. However, he didn't let it show on his face.
"A lot happened last night, and I managed to form a partnership with a supplier. In the process, I got shot twice and am not in peak physical condition. However, I'll be with Zack overseeing everything and will be ready to move at a moment's notice if needed. But I doubt that'll be the case," he revealed.
As he did, those who subconsciously doubted Xavier felt guilty and were even more amazed by him. They also felt as though there was an air of mystery around him that grew stronger by the day. It seemed as though the more time passed, the more difficult it was to understand and keep up with the youth they recognised as their boss.
However, there were 5 that managed to overcome that and do so, proving that they deserved to be in the positions that they were in...
