Sui Rong was cleaning his office himself, even though he held such a high position now. Sui Rong had always personally cleaned his office, a practice he had maintained for twenty years. Although he was not among the top management in the head office, he had significant connections, especially in handling government and public relations, where he was quite skilled.

Putting down the cleaning tools, Sui Rong looked at his tidy office and smiled in satisfaction.

He was also very pleased with his recent work. If nothing went wrong, including the headquarters and other telecom service providers, all would be able to maintain their industry status and gain tremendous profits after joining the alliance.

Sui Rong did not solely issue a veiled threat to Xiang Fei; he intended more to make Xiang Fei give up due to the difficulty. Overhauling the entire telecommunication system and launching the Sky Net could lead to significant turmoil.

As Sui Rong understood, in this country, no matter if there was reason or not, as long as it could potentially cause embarrassment, the authorities would definitely suppress it. The authorities did not want chaos or to see the nation's economy impacted by fluctuations in a core industry. Sui Rong was confident that for the sake of stability and harmony, the authorities would compromise.

It seemed like he had benefitted the country and the people by doing nothing. Sui Rong thought the Iridium Star people were just like philanthropists, utterly adorable.

Just then, someone burst into his office.

Sui Rong jumped, but relaxed when he saw who it was. The visitor was his secretary, Liu Yun, a graduate from a prestigious foreign university, with both a good figure and appearance. Naturally, Sui Rong dared to enjoy the sight, as the domestic enforcement on ethics was strict, and he didn't dare to act against the norms.

"General Manager Sui! General Manager Sui, there's been an incident!"

Sui Rong frowned and said, "Don't you have any manners anymore? Coming in without knocking; have you been abroad so long that you've forgotten basic etiquette? Get out and knock on the door!"

Liu Yun had no choice but to lower her head, step back outside, knock, and wait for Sui Rong's response before coming in.

Liu Yun really disliked her boss, finding him pretentious and not very upright, his mind filled with schemes.

Sui Rong was still displeased, "Haven't I told you, as public relations handlers, we must remain calm and composed in every situation like Mount Tai is collapsing in front of us? If you get flustered by issues, how can you solve the company's problems?"

Liu Yun decided to ignore her boss's remarks and stated directly, "The headquarters has just received reports from various branches; we've lost direct operational control over all of our users, it seems we've been hacked."

Sui Rong's face turned pale, "What? All our users have been hacked? How is that possible, when we spend billions on network security every year? And how could we lose operational control over all customers?"

Liu Yun continued, "But our services are still running, and they're automated. Users who go to the store can't get help from our staff but can still conduct transactions through online and SMS services, including some transactions we mandated must be done in the store. Services like online bill payments and data package purchases are running autonomously without our control.

For now, there haven't been any problems, but our system can no longer control any customer operations."

Sui Rong suddenly felt a chill down his spine and said nervously, "Go contact the other companies, ask them what's happening!"

Liu Yun didn't dare to not follow her boss's order and immediately turned to leave the office to make the contacts.

Sui Rong became very agitated, pacing back and forth in his office. He also tried to operate on his computer, but found he couldn't log into the company's internal system, meaning that the entire company's staff couldn't manipulate customer information.

He inadvertently clicked on a news website and then saw the headline.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the United Empire of Iridium Star's embassy holds a joint press conference, disclosing the progress of the alliance negotiations."

Sui Rong's hands trembled as he opened the webpage, which read:

Users within C-country, reportedly facing Iridium Star, will be covered by Sky Net signals and enjoy 100Tbps internet speed. It is noted that Sky Net will be completely free for users in C-country."

Sui Rong turned pale, muttering to himself, "How can they unveil this now?"

In his opinion, just the transition negotiations were supposed to take months, followed by several months to a year of deployment; for Sky Net to go online within a year would be considered fast. But now the officials along with Iridium Star had already announced the Sky Net plan, making it explicitly clear that it was free.

"This is going to be a desperate fight," Sui Rong thought.

With the introduction of Sky Net, the path for the major telecom providers was utterly blocked. Thus, the telecom system would undoubtedly resist, by many means, but the trump card would be control over the current communication services. As long as Sky Net wasn't fully accepted by users, any disruption in existing mobile communications or network services could have a massive economic impact.

At this moment, Liu Yun came running back in her high heels, clacking. She still didn't knock but spoke directly to Sui Rong, "General Manager Sui, other companies are experiencing the same situation.

The headquarters just received a notice from something called the 'Transition and Conversion Special Office,' stating that there will be a technical trial today and tomorrow, so the operating permissions for all companies towards their users are temporarily suspended..."

Sui Rong slumped into his chair, his face the color of ash, "It's over; it's really over..."

Challenging fate was already a huge risk, and now their biggest leverage had been destroyed.
