Chapter 3: Florida Man Claimed He Became a Mage After Disposing of His Gun Collection. Neighbors Raised Pitchforks and AK47s.
Without hesitation, Felix checked the new options and explored the quest menu first. The menu was located on the left side of his status screen, where he used to dump items for mana.
Upon pressing the floating monitor, the screen changed, informing Felix of a new quest.

**Quest Menu**
In this mode, you may receive random assignments from your system.
- Main Quest
- Daily Quest

Curious, Felix checked the main quest option first. However, Jessica informed him of some bad news.
<Main Quests will start after you have transmigrated. Please be patient.>
Since the main quest was disabled at the moment, Felix checked the daily quest next. Then, he was stunned.

**Daily Quest** *(Complete one of these objectives to receive a reward.)*
- Increase mana by 10.
- Create one firearm of any type using your system feature "Arsenal of Freedom" (Locked).
- Create 100 cartridges of any type using your system feature "Arsenal of Freedom" (Locked).

"Arsenal of Freedom?" Felix was confused as he couldn't find the system feature on his screen. "What is that, Jessica?"
<The system option will be unlocked once you've reached level 2. Please gather more mana to enable the features.>
Felix rolled his eyes. "And how much mana do I need to reach that?"
<You need 20 mana to reach level 2. Please work hard to achieve it.>
"That's impossible, isn't it?!"
<I believe you can do it.>
"…"
Felix had a headache. He couldn't imagine how he would procure enough junk or useless items to make mana. Out of ideas, he put the quest matter to the back of his mind and checked the inventory system.
Inventory, dimensional storage, space container—these concepts, inspired by the fourth-dimensional bag of an OG cat-without-ears from the future, were trendy long before RPG games, isekai novels, and TikTok even existed. He wondered what kind of perks this inventory could give him.
The menu showed 10 empty square boxes. Felix pressed the question mark at the top right corner to see some explanations. Betraying his expectations, Jessica was the one explaining.
<This feature allows you to deposit 10 different types of items in the system menu. Unlike when you convert items into mana, you can withdraw them anytime and anywhere with just a thought. You don't need to insert your hand into the system screen to find the items you need.>
"…Is that all?"
<It can carry items from this world to the next. I suggest you store your best guns and ammunition in these 10 inventory slots.>
This irked Felix. He had 10 inventory slots, but they seemed limited.
"Can I store multiple items in the same boxes?"
<Only items of the same name and type can be stored in the same slot. For example, you may store up to 99 AK-47s in inventory slot number 1. However, you cannot store anything else in slot number 1 except assault rifles with the same name. Conversely, you cannot store AK-47s in other occupied inventory slots except the one with the same item name.>
In short, stored items could stack, but Felix couldn't store different objects with different names in the same slot.
"What's the limit and size of each inventory slot?"
<At the moment, you may store up to 99 items of the same type and name in one slot. To expand inventory slots and the max storage units, please increase your level.>
Felix understood everything. He pursed his lips and looked at the ammunition crates in the underground storage. Picking his favorite choice, Felix deposited 9mm cartridges into the inventory first.
His family had collected many 9mm ammo for the past decade as they were easy to find in every gun store. In the room, Felix had 50 boxes, each containing 50 cartridges - A total of 2,500 rounds!
50 boxes of ammunition entered inventory slot number 1 with ease. An icon of the containers appeared along with a large number "50" at the bottom right corner.
"Very neat. I thought you would only restrict me to 99 rounds."
<You stored ammunition boxes full of 9x19mm cartridges. Therefore, the system matches the description of items and creates a restriction for the inventory slot. You may withdraw one of those boxes, and it will contain 50 cartridges. However, if you take a cartridge out, you can no longer deposit the previous box into the inventory slot unless you fill it to 50 cartridges.>
"…I see."
Felix could see ways to exploit the system. He grinned and stored more guns and ammunition.
His first choice was a Beretta 92fs. It fired like a .357 magnum and sometimes hurt his hands, which made him fall in love with the brand and the series. Thus, he stored three pistols of the same model in inventory slot number 2.
The next chosen one was the expensive FN SCAR 16s, which his father had secretly spent some of his savings to get. Felix remembered the day his mother found out and almost pawned it to get the money back.
Looking at the pristine, fully optioned sophisticated rifle brought back memories. Felix wiped his tears as he missed his parents.
"This will be our family's heirloom from now on. Dad, Mom, please look after me."
While muttering, Felix played with the bolt handle and the empty magazine, enjoying the sound and the weight of the weapon. To him, the noise was akin to a hymn of God.
After placing the rifle in the 3rd slot, Felix tossed 50 boxes of NATO ammo (5.56X45mm), each containing 20 rounds, into the 4th slot. However, Felix was not satisfied.
For a Florida man like Felix, 1,000 rounds of ammo could deplete as quickly as one masturbation session. Thus, Felix looked for alternatives in case he got into a dicey situation in the future. He glanced at a bulky shotgun on the rack and picked it up.
A gun enthusiast's controversial toy, the IWI Tavor TS12 was a bullpup, thick-stocked shotgun, that looked straight out of sci-fi movies. It had a rotating magazine, capable of storing 15 + 1 cartridges (5 in each tube magazine and one in the chamber).
The downside of this weapon was the requirement for ammunition. It demanded high-velocity and 12GA rounds, which limited the options for this gun. Still, Felix loved it because of its gimmick.
After throwing 20 boxes of slug rounds inside his inventory slot, Felix scanned the remaining storage room.
Aside from the three weapons Felix had stored, the others were either old or rusty as nobody had maintained these guns for a long time. Moreover, Felix had already emptied all the ammunition here.
Since Felix had no use for these guns, he wondered if he should pawn them or sell them to get some pocket money to buy more shells. He looked at Jessica, who was also inspecting some abandoned handguns on the racks and the floor.
"Should I sell those?" Felix asked.
<Let's turn them into mana. You might be able to finish the daily quest.>
"…If you say so."
Although unwilling, Felix converted the rest of the unusable guns into mana.
*DING*
<You have extracted mana from a broken AK-47. You have collected 4.20 mana.>
<You have extracted mana from a broken Glock 19. You have collected 2.69 mana.>
<You have extracted mana from a broken AR-15. You have collected 1.337 mana.>
<You have extracted…>
<You have…>
<You…>
…
Five minutes later, nothing remained in Felix's secret chamber. He smiled and admired his status screen.
