Florida Man in Magus World: Unleashing Liberty and Freedom

Chapter 167: Florida Man Set New “Oil Hunting” Speedrun Record by Constructing Two Oil Refineries Within Five Days in Preparation to Spread Democracy in Upcoming Scenario Quests

After dropping Diana and Jiji home, Felix headed back to Diana's cave or what remained of it.

Getting back to the burnt forest, Felix rushed to the site, where he had chosen to build the second oil derrick. It wasn't hard to locate it.

The machines worked as intended, pumping crude mana oil into the oil storage tanks.

Felix checked his inventory screen and navigated to the oil inventory. The screen changed, displaying two oil derrick statuses and two separate storage tanks. The first tank was at the bottom because of the recent activities. As for the second one, it had filled the oil to the brim.

Seeing the surplus supply, Felix was relieved. He had enough oil for another three-day fire bathing. Taking the oil, Felix traveled away from his building to avoid complications. Upon getting enough distance, Felix resumed the self-burning ritual.

4 days later, Felix stopped. He checked the current lifespan balance.

Remaining Lifespan: 408,330

It was enough for the next investment.

As Felix was short on time, he rushed back to the second oil derrick. When he arrived, he touched the building, summoning the unique add-on construction menu.

A new system screen appeared, separated from his system windows. It showed five available add-on slots, which Felix could use to improve the building. Upon touching it, the system shop automatically activated, displaying a catalog of buildable structures.

Over 20 modules and buildings were selectable. Felix skimmed through the list and picked the combination for his needs.

.

Extra Storage Tank (1 Slot): 10,000 Years of Lifespan

- Add a dedicated storage tank for Mana Petroleum or Crude Mana Oil.

.

Refinery (1 Slot): 20,000 Years of Lifespan

- Automatically refine crude mana oil into Mana Petroleum.

- Required: Extra Storage Tank

.

Mana Crystallization Module (1 Slot): 10,000 Years of Lifespan

- Automatically convert Mana Petroleum into 1st Grade Mana Crystals

- Required Extra Storage Tank

.

Due to the shortage of mana oil storage, Felix built three extra storage tanks, one refinery, and a mana crystalization module, spending 60,000 years of lifespan in total. The 3D-printing lasers descended from the sky, beginning their work.

Felix finished working on this structure. He activated his jetpack, flying to the first oil derrick.

The trip was short and uneventful. When Felix arrived, the deserted Basilisk village was in front of him. However, aside from the half-broken shacks and fences, nothing in the village was left behind.

Felix ignored the village and entered the barrier, finding his precious oil derrick at the center. Again, he toughed the structure, summoning the add-on window.

Repeating what he had done earlier, he spent 60,000 years of his lifespan building the same add-on structures. He pressed the confirm button and turned around, flying away from the site. 3D-printing lasers descended behind him.

At noon, Felix returned to the flying island. Instead of heading to Goat Mountain first, he visited the eastern district, wondering if the Lamias had occupied this place yet.

Betraying his expectation, the Lamia barely touched this area. Only a few plots of land had been used to grow spirit potatoes. As for the rest, they were still wet grassland.

Felix explored the place and found Clover, the sole Alraune, at the potato field. As she had been standing idly and dozing off, Felix wondered if she was okay. He approached her.

As Felix got closer, Clover's eyes snapped open and turned toward Felix, startling him.

Clover tilted her head in confusion for a moment as she hadn't seen him for a while. She also barely recognized his face and his current form.

"Master? Are you really master?" Clover asked.

Felix smirked and opened her arms like a gangster, "Well, I grow up. Surprised?"

Clover pursed her lips, looking disappointed, "What a waste. I prefer you when you are shorter."

Felix rolled his eyes, finding Clover's taste in men unappealing. He changed the subject.

"How are the potatoes? Are they growing?"

Clover wryly smiled and looked at the field. Felix also followed her gaze.

The potato field was cleanly plowed and watered. However, no potato showed signs of growing. Instead, some of the leaves withered.

"As you can see," Clover sighed deeply. "I tried my best, but your potatoes aren't growing at all. I even injected my mana to heal them, but it didn't do anything. I've been wondering. What are these potatoes you have me cultivating, master?"

"They're just spirit potatoes."

"I know, but the spirit potatoes I cultivated in the past weren't like these!"

Felix scratched the back of his head and pondered if it was related to the system or the farm sim game's secrets.

"Alright. Can you help me collect the seeds for now? I will build something new around here."

Clover didn't understand what Felix would do, but she followed his instructions nonetheless.

The next moment, Felix purchased a new system building, costing him 100,000 years of lifespan. Instantly, an acre of land erupted, transforming into glossy black land full of soft soil. A hut emerged at the southeast corner of the place.

Felix walked over to the hut and touched it. The menu prompted him a new system screen, showing the features of this place.

It was a farmland, as stated in the system description. However, the detail guaranteed him one thing.

- Description: Can grow special crops. You can purchase add-on structures to specialize in specific crops, such as herbs, fruits, starches, mushrooms, etc.

Felix stopped there. He turned to Clover, "Replant the potatoes here for now. I'm kinda busy. I'll be checking another place."

"Huh? What did you do…"

Felix didn't wait for Clover to respond. He activated his jetpack and flew to the Goat Mountain.

An hour later, Felix stood at the foot of the Goat Mountain, gazing at the large tunnel that his system had created. Felix then checked his quest progress.

Main Quest #11 - Preparing for Upcoming Economy

You've got the basics down. But getting your physical and internal foundation stabilized should not be your only goal. As there is no telling what the demon god and other system users will do in this chaotic world, you should start gathering resources and manpower.

Let's start with the resources first. You already know how to construct oil derrick and find oil deposits, so we will not repeat those quests. Instead, you should learn to strategize the oil derrick's add-ons.

Add-ons are the crux of your resource-procuring buildings. It can either serve as your extra inventory slots or your automatic factories, depending on your designs.

As usual, this quest is time-limited.

Mission - Complete the following objectives:

1. Construct three resource-gathering system structures, warehouse, and storehouse excluded. (4/3) (Completed)

2. Construct six of any resource-gathering system structure add-ons. (10/6) (Completed)

Rewards:

- Permanently increase familiar slots by one, not including the leveling bonus.

- One Dim Philosopher Stone

- Super Democracy Pass (Class C)

Time Limit: 10 Days

.

Felix wiped the sweat on his face and gazed at his creation, though he hadn't checked what he needed to do to make the quarry work yet.

Jessica's window popped up as usual to congratulate him.

*DING*

<Congratulations. You have completed the Main Quest #11!>

<Your Super Democracy Pass has been upgraded to C Class!>

<You have obtained one Dim Philosopher Stone!>

<Your familiar slot has increased by one. Current slots: 3/4.>

The building quests were easy when Felix knew a way to exploit the glitches. If Felix never bathed in mana oil fire, it would have been impossible for him to complete everything within 10 days.

With 5 days left over, Felix wondered if the next quest would add extra time for him. He waited for Jessica to summarize the new tasks.

While he was at it, he glanced at the familiar slots and tilted his head. He wondered how it worked.

He definitely had Jiji and Eins. Diana was recently added, which made it three. But when he thought of the Cement Golem, Felix was confused as to why the guy wasn't added to the list.

Jessica read his mind and explained, <The Cement Golem is a sentient living being, created by the system. It doesn't require system contracts like the local population. Therefore, it doesn't consume the precious slots.>

"Oh, neat."

Felix was relieved. He then shifted his attention to the remaining familiar slot, contemplating if he should bring in another person. Felix thought of Clover for a moment, but he immediately shook away the thought.

That Alraune was too thirsty. If he took her in, she might fight with Jiji and Diana. He chose not to make his current life too complicated.

As Felix thought of giving up on Clover, the back of his mind recalled a person, which he had met long ago. He vaguely remembered a short guy who was present when he and Diana killed Kim Jung.

"Was there someone that we picked up?" Felix asked Jessica as he couldn't remember.

Jessica helped him recall the memory by opening a new window, and showing a clip of the incident. The video player app displayed the face of Kim Jung and his interaction with a dwarf slave.

The dwarf climbed the anchor chain as instructed, but Diana suddenly carried Felix over. Felix then parted from her and shot Kim Jung in the head. After picking up the loot, Felix flew back to the flying island alone and summoned both of them to the Fate Plaza. Afterward, Felix flew off to the first oil derrick site to begin the 9-day grind to complete the 10th main quest.

Watching the events, Felix finally remembered. He asked Jessica, "Do you know where that dwarf is? I haven't talked to him yet."
