Fantasy: The Great Emperor Comes Back

Chapter 33

C33 – Assassin

In the pitch-black forest, two groups of people were rapidly making their way forward.

Mo Changyou moved with exceptional agility, darting through the forest at high speed. Neither the assassin at Energy Condensation Level 7 nor the one at Level 8 could get anywhere near him.

The assassins revealed their intent to kill.

“That woman must be completely out of commission, or she would have struck at the Red Blood Crocodile. This man has shown us what he’s capable of. Now’s our chance. Let’s take him out.” One assassin spoke up.

“Alright,” the other nodded in agreement.

The two groups were roughly three hundred meters apart.

“Does that guy have four legs? Can someone at Energy Condensation Level 4 really be that fast?” One assassin wondered aloud. He was at Energy Condensation Level 8 and could cover about thirty meters in just a few seconds. Yet, this man, supposedly at Level 4, matched his pace.

Tang Nuolan sensed Mo Changyou’s speed and wondered how he knew they were being pursued.

Mo Changyou spoke up, “Don’t speak right now. If we weren’t being chased, why haven’t we come across any other Ferocious Beasts for so long? You’re being naive.”

Tang Nuolan bristled with anger. Who in the Imperial Capital would dare to call her naive?

Yet, Mo Changyou was correct. They had lingered in this place for quite some time without a single encounter with a Ferocious Beast.

Either the beasts had found other prey, or someone else had slain them.

In the Darkness Forest, Mo Changyou’s speed reached its peak. Tang Nuolan began to worry.

Based on Mo Changyou’s analysis, their pursuer was certainly more formidable than the Red Blood Crocodile, indicating that their foe was at least at Energy Condensation Level 7.

But she was completely drained. How could she confront such an adversary?

For the first time, Tang Nuolan felt utterly helpless.

Just then, Mo Changyou reached the heart of the Darkness Forest. White bones and the remains of formidable practitioners littered the ground.

Legend had it that a great demon was interred here.

There were said to be over a dozen mighty Fusion Spirit Vicious Beasts in this area.

They had actually penetrated the heart of the Darkness Forest! “Chase them!” an assassin exclaimed, a moment of hesitation flashing across his face before he firmly issued the command.

The two men frantically pursued Mo Changyou and Tang Nuolan.

In that instant, Mo Changyou let out a confident laugh.

As the assassin was about to give chase, a colossal Lightning Leopard, towering over a hundred feet tall, thundered down upon them. This Lightning Leopard was a Fusion Spirit Vicious Beast.

Its massive form lunged at the two assassins.

Clearly, Mo Changyou had provoked the slumbering Lightning Leopard. When it awoke, the first thing it saw was the two assassins.

The ensuing chaos made Tang Nuolan realize that all her previous concerns were utterly unfounded.

Mo Changyou skillfully dodged the powerful Ferocious Beasts, leaving the two assassins nearly to be toyed to death by the creatures.

“I swear I’m done being an assassin after this,” the plumper of the two killers lamented, his face etched with a sense of injustice.

The Ferocious Beasts seemed to have gone mad, relentlessly pursuing them.

For the next several hours, the duo dodged the relentless attacks of the Ferocious Beasts. Had they not fled when they did, they would have been dead long before.

Their clothes were in tatters, smeared with mud and leaves.

Yet, they had barely managed to escape the clutches of the Ferocious Beasts, unaware that Mo Changyou was already on his way back to finish them off.

“Have you lost your mind? You’re going back to kill them?” Tang Nuolan was incredulous that Mo Changyou would consider returning at such a time.

“Be quiet,” Mo Changyou rebuked, his innate imperial presence silencing any retort from Tang Nuolan. She watched the man carrying her with a look of irritation.

“Just wait and see,” Tang Nuolan murmured to herself, her heart filled with defiance towards Mo Changyou.

The two unfortunate assassins had only just broken free from the pursuit of the Ferocious Beasts. Both sustained minor injuries, their combat abilities significantly diminished, and with less than half of their Spirit Energy remaining, they were in a pitiful state.

“When did killing a kid at Energy Condensation Level 4 become so challenging?” the lead assassin grumbled, finding himself in such a disheveled state for the first time.

“If I see him again, I’m definitely going to kill him!” fumed the other assassin.

They brushed the dust from their clothes. Just as they were about to take a seat, a powerful fist aura roared into existence, shattering the emptiness around them.

Accompanied by the sound of a tiger’s roar, a devastating punch came crashing down. Already lightly wounded and depleted of Spirit Energy, the two utterly spent assassins stood no chance of evading the strike.

They were utterly unprepared.

It was Mo Changyou, of course!

“You’re going to die very soon!” mocked the assassin at Energy Condensation Level 8.

He regarded Mo Changyou, standing before him, as if he were already a dead man.

How could a mere practitioner at Energy Condensation Level 4 dare to return?
