Chapter 50 Payment
Money was important in all worlds and Fallen Fate Online was no exception. Given that Zayne needed to earn money to heal his sister he would have to spend coins on resources from time to time, so his spending would gradually increase.
"Zayne... Do you have any money? 100 Gold Coins is not a small amount at all, there's no way a simple farmer could earn that much in a month or two." Aron turned to him with a confused look, unsure if he was serious.
"Sure. I told you what happened to me after I got back, so now I have some money." Zayne nodded before touching the ring.
The small white stone shone brightly attracting everyone's attention.
"What the hell..." Elin couldn't believe what she saw as her eyes went wide. The others had a similar reaction.
"Hah, looks like overnight Zayne got richer than some of us. That ring on its own could be worth a lot." Harald grinned with a little pride in his voice.
"Oh... The Spatial Ring, it's quite a valuable, but more importantly a rare item. Even I had to spend a few weeks to find the right one. Damn, now I regret betting against you during the duel. I missed out on such profits!" Feto shook his head disappointedly.
"Plus some teeth." Harald said mockingly, making Feto frown, "Come on, don't be offended. Come and see me in the morning, me and Amelia will get you cleaned up in no time."
"Easy for you to say... It's not like you're the one who lost part of his teeth!" Feto said menacingly, but it only brought a smirk to Harald's face.
Aron sighed, "Let's not get distracted. Zayne, pay for the Mana Stone, then we must get home to Roland. You don't have much time left."
Zayne gulped, "Sure." Zayne opened his palm as a tiara appeared in his hand with a large green stone in the center that emanated a glint.
"How much will it cost?" Zayne asked, sliding the tiara onto the table in front of Feto.
Feto took the tiara in his hands, examined it carefully, and with a deep sigh said, "Not as much as you expected, 15 Gold Coins tops."
"What...? Why such a low price!" Elin became indignant as she puffed her cheeks, "He must be scamming us!"
Feto wanted to reply, but Aron beat him to it as he shook his head, "Feto may have many faults, but he certainly wouldn't lie in a situation like this, would he?"
"Yeah, you're correct." Feto nodded, "Look, my experience is more than enough to say that this is not silver but cheap tin, so that makes this tiara practically a common bling, not an expensive accessory."
Roland pointed to the stone, "What about this one? I'm no expert, but it looks pretty valuable."
"Unfortunately, it's not a gemstone. Anyway, you may not believe me, but no merchant will offer you more than 15 Gold Coin for this tiara, that's for sure." Feto said confidently with folded hands together.
Zayne shrugged, "That's not a problem, I have plenty more to offer." Then his ring shone brightly again.
...
After a few minutes, Feto set aside the tiara, two necklaces, one bracelet, and a pair of earrings, in return he handed the Mana Stone to Zayne.
Feto received quite a few items, but they were all low-quality materials, so he couldn't value them at more than 10 or 20 Gold Coins.
"Kid... Where did you find so many things in such a short period of time? Ah, right, I completely forgot that I owe you something." Feto's eyes went wide as he remembered something, then in his hand appeared a pouch which he tossed to Zayne.
"What is it?" Zayne gave him a puzzled look.
"Your share for winning the duel. Though you caused me to suffer a serious loss, it was my mistake. There isn't much here, though... for an ordinary citizen, that money would be enough to give you a proper rest from your work." Feto spoke quietly.
Zayne opened the pouch.
[You got 50 Gold Coins!]
The gold sheen from the many coins made Zayne smile contentedly. Perhaps this amount of money could not radically change his situation, but it was another step toward his big goal.
"Well, looks like he's actually honest..." Elin muttered with a slight frown.
"Fine. We got the Mana Stone, so now it's time to go. Feto, thank you for your help, I hope you continue to help develop this village." Aron said quietly, nodded, and stood up.
"Yeah, yeah... If I don't trade, then everything will just lose its meaning." Feto muttered as he rested his head on his hand.
"Mr. Feto, that's actually not all the stuff I have. Let's just say there, I managed to find a vault with a lot of different things my ring is filled with." Zayne said as he stepped away from the table.
"We don't have much time now, or rather I do... but if you don't mind I'd like to leave you all the things I have so you can evaluate them." Zayne said uncertainly, not knowing if Feto would agree to this.
Feto's face immediately changed as an excited gleam appeared in his eyes.
"Hah, since you turned out to be so lucky let's see if there's anything really valuable amongst all your junk. You don't have to worry, your stuff is perfectly safe here." Feto said with a slight smirk, rubbing his palms together.
Zayne nodded, then he pointed his open palm towards the floor and the stone on his ring glowed. With a few white flashes, several massive chests, boxes, and expensive-looking jewellry appeared beside him.
"Wow, Zayne, I didn't expect your spatial ring to have such an impressive capacity." Harald was surprised as his eyes went wide.
Crackle.
pαndα,noνɐ1,сoМ Feto immediately rose from his chair and approached the chests with an eager gaze. He just wanted take it all to sell it profitably later, but professional ethics did not allow those desires to become a reality.
"Unbelievable! There might be a lot of junk here that's only worth a few Gold Coins, but I'm sure I'll find something very precious for sure!" Feto exclaimed in excitement.
"How long will it take you to check everything and give your evaluation?" Zayne asked with a slight wave of his hand.
Feto shook his head a few times, holding his chin before giving his answer, "Come back in the morning. I think I'll be done by then. Now, you were kind of in a hurry to get somewhere, weren't you? You're infested with Chaos, so you don't have much time!'
'Hah, he just wants us to get out of here, so he can go about his favourite business, doesn't he? Well, he has a point.' Zayne inwardly shrugged before heading for the exit.
The others glanced at Feto and followed Aron, who seemed more in a hurry than the others to leave the place.
The last was Harald, he stopped in the aisle and said with a smirk, "Don't forget to come to see me tomorrow too. I don't know about the others, but I wouldn't trust a merchant who doesn't have half of his teeth. Hahaha!"
