Chapter 193 We're Not Friends
Roland looked at the system screen in front of him in joy.
He did not expect that the simple action of ignoring Anna could actually allow him to earn points.
Right now, Roland thought that he was in a face-slapping points drought phase, so even a measly 5 Face-Slapping Points means a lot to him.
Seeing an additional 110 all of a sudden made him jovial and nod in approval. It was not much but it was slowly allowing him to reach the goal.
Madison continued to call the names one by one and it eventually ended with Bryan's group of friends almost sitting at the back row, indicating their rank in the room.
Amy was in the middle as her rank was around twenty-plus.
The thing about this kind of arrangement was that although it may seem like it would motivate the class to work harder and sit in front, it can also demotivate them depending on their outlook towards the real world.
After the class was fully seated, Madison finally returned to her seat beside Roland after she announced that everyone should behave for now as they wait for the next instructions.
Sitting and being close to Roland was actually her plan all along.
She considered him as her rival, and being this close to him would allow her to observe what he was up to. At the same time, Roland's recent changes also made her curious and as a curious person, she wanted to know the reason for his change and if it was beneficial to him and their rivalry.
She sat and looked at Roland, "Where did you go yesterday after class? I tried catching up to you but you disappeared from my view all of a sudden."
"I went to a particular place," Roland answered truthfully and vaguely.
"Why were you looking for me?" He asked.
"Oh, nothing. I just want to tell you that I won't lose this time and I will surely clench first place before the semester ends," she declared with a grin.
Roland looked at her with a surprise expression before saying, "Okay? Sure?"
Roland felt confused at what he should answer. This was the first time that someone declared that they would beat him in regards to studying.
"I guess I should also try my best not to lose to you then," he continued, still a little confused about her sudden declaration.
Roland could not help but size Madison up again during this interaction.
Madison was a pretty woman and definitely belongs to the creme of the crop in Fore City College right now. She has a fiery red-hair and moderately busty figure. Her hair was usually dropped down but Roland would sometimes see her tie it into a ponytail as well.
In the eyes of many, Madison was already the perfect girl in their imaginations. This was also the reason why Madison was very popular in Fore City college even though she had just come here a semester ago like Roland and the others.
This was the first time that Roland saw this side of hers, a fiery and confident aura was oozing around her earlier as she declared that to Roland.
Recalling the scene at the entrance earlier, Roland could not help but advise her out of it, "Oh right, while it's still early. I think it's better to choose your friends wisely. Otherwise, you won't know that you have already been betrayed."
Madison was taken aback by his words.
'Where did that come from?' She thought.
She only has two close friends in Fore City. One was Victoria, the one on the third rank, while the other was seated a few seats away from Anna.
Just as she was about to ask Roland about the detail, a furious voice suddenly resounded behind the two of them.
"Excuse me!?"
Both of them turned to look and realized that it was actually Anna.
Roland was the first to turn his head away from her before Madison followed suit.
In truth, they were truly not deliberately ignoring her existence.
It was just that Roland thought it was a waste of time to interact with her while Madison simply thought that she was not trying to talk to them.
However, even before Madison could speak, Anna actually pushed Roland's chair, as if to get their attention after an unsuccessful attempt.
She crossed her arms on her chest and looked at Roland menacingly, "Are you trying to imply that we are traitors and that no one should befriend us?"
Roland frowned and looked at her and her bratty attitude.
"Did I say something about you? Why? Did my words strike you that hard?" Roland stated calmly.
He was no longer the same person that anyone could bully before. Anna was lucky that she would only receive verbal insults for now.
"Y-you…" Anna was tongue-tied after hearing Roland's rebuttal.
Indeed, her ego was struck when she heard Roland's words earlier.
In truth, she was actually eavesdropping from their conversation earlier. Her heart was in turmoil as she saw Roland speaking freely with another girl other than her.
She recalled that before, she especially ordered Roland not to talk to other girls and he did it without any hesitation.
Seeing him talking with Madison made her jealous, and she felt that her possession was getting stolen right in front of her eyes. And when Roland said those words, it triggered her as she blurted her thoughts out as usual.
However, hearing Roland's rebuttal made her speechless as it hit right on the coffin.
At this time, Madison also looked at he deeply, "Seriously, why did you assume that it was you who he didn't want me to befriend? We are not friends to begin with, so just where did you get the idea that he was talking about you?"
