Chapter 48: Following

It has been two week since I started observing Daemon, and I noticed that he was indeed planning on going to Lotus High to get revenge on those who killed his... huh... friend, or girlfriend, I don't know.

He was currently in his dorm, packing some stuff in a bag, it was mostly food but honestly it was pretty useless, he would be back here in less than three days.

"I wonder what he is doing..." I mumbled as I watched him turn in circles inside of the room, almost as if was thinking about what else he needed.

I was currently using the aura body skill to hide myself in the corner of the room, I had been doing this for the past seven days and I was starting to get tired, I had realized in the process that [Aura Body] is an incredible skill for stealth, it's a shame it can only be used 30 seconds each time though as I have to watch out for the time I deactivate it.

I basically have to choose the perfect moment Daemon looks away or is out of the room to retrieve my body, and then using a good timing to catch my breath, merge my body with the aura again when he looks back.

It was a very tiring experience, but I guess it can be served as some kind of lessons for if anything happens where I need to hide in the future.

"I hope he leaves soon, I don't know how much longer I can keep this up" I sighed as I saw the alert.

[10 seconds left]

But then, Daemon finished packing and stood up, he grabbed the bag and walked out of the room.

"Finally!" I deactivated the skill and jumped down from the ceiling, "phew, that was tiring."

I looked at the clock and saw that it was 12:00 AM, meaning that he would effectively need to avoid the night patrol, which is the additional layer of security the academy added after the incident, to leave without issues.

"Hmm~~" I heard Kyle move in his sleep, he was Daemon's roommate but he was the kind to never wake up even if his alarm rang next to his ears for ten minutes straight.

I learned that he was a pretty heavy sleeper, so I could easily kill him while he slept if it came to it, but I obviously didn't need to do that as I needed him alive for the future, even if he is a supporting character, he is an important one.

I walked out of the room and closed the door behind me, then I activated the aura body skill again and followed Daemon who was walking through the hallways.

He was wearing a black hoodie and pants, and he was holding the bag in his right hand.

"This is it..." I mumbled as I saw him reach the exit of the building.

Then he climbed the gate to leave and stepped outside while carefully avoiding the guards that were walking both in the hallways and at the entrance of the school.

"Perfect" I grinned and followed him, then I deactivated the skill once the time limit was up and hid behind a tree.

Daemon was already far away from the school grounds and was heading towards the city.

"HEY, YOU, WHO ARE YOU?" I heard a voice behind me then the light of a flashlight reflect on my back.

"Shit..." I cursed.

"Show me your face you little shit, getting out of the school grounds at this time isn't allowed" the man was slowly approaching me and I was trying to my hardest not to show my face.

"C'mon... calm down me" I pleaded for my body to retrieve it's energy.

The reason I didn't instantly use the [Aura Body] skill again is because I do have to take a bit of a break between each use if I don't want to be exhausted instantly.

"I said show me your face!" the guard shouted and grabbed my shoulder.

"Fuck it" I gave up and activated the skill, my body merged with the aura and I flew upwards, thus escaping the man's grasp.

"WHAT THE FUCK?" he was shocked, "WHERE DID HE GO?"

I flew between the bars of the gate and effectively left the school ground without anybody seeing my face.

"Phew, that was close" I sighed in relief, "I thought I was done for."

I looked at Daemon who was still walking in the distance, he hadn't noticed anything yet, which was good.

"Now let's follow him" I smiled and did just that.

It would take us a good amount of time to reach the place, luckily for not only him but also for me, the "Lotus High" base of operation was located in Freesia.

Lotus High isn't the biggest evil organization of the novel, far from that actually, they don't even compare to the later arcs.

But they were still a big challenge for the protagonist when he killed their boss during the second year, which effectively disbanded them and they were never heard from again.

I believe the author just needed a first main villain of the novel other than Sera, who was just a single girl who thought too highly of herself and suffered the consequences of it.

"Lotus High" is just one single part of the biggest evil organization of the novel, they are just a small part of it that us readers believed was the real deal.

And the main organization of the novel, the one that controls everything and that would both annoy the protagonist and help him was...

"Well I'm getting off track, let's just follow Daemon" I shook my head as remembering this information currently was useless.

(Daemon's POV)

I was currently walking through the streets of the city, it was dark and I was alone, but I didn't mind it.

I had a single goal in mind, and it was to find the people responsible for Alicia's death.

I knew that they were part of an organization called Lotus High, but that was all I had.

I didn't know their exact location, nor how many members they had, but I didn't care about that, I just wanted to kill them all.

I had escaped the school to go to the adress located on the card of the man I killed.

Yet even though I had traveled for a good distance, since the beggining of my journey, I felt like something or someone was watching me.

I turned around and checked the area, but I didn't see anyone, so I continued walking.

But then I stopped again, I felt it again, I was being watched.

"Who is it?" I asked loudly, "show yourself!"

I waited for a few seconds but nobody answered, I was starting to get annoyed.

And the thing that angered me the most was the fact that I recognized that aura.

It feels so familiar yet I can't remember who was actively using it even though I fought them before...

"Ahhh~ screw it" I shook my head, I must be paranoid, who would follow me at this hour anyways.
