Chapter 55 : Barren land development... Spirit Comms upgrade
For the next couple of days, the barren land was undergoing a series of shocking developments.
Thousands of soldiers were recruited into the Celestial Heavenly Sect army while the sect was also preparing for their first recruitment.
Previously, the people in the barren land thought that with the Celestial Heavenly Sect Branch Hall in all the major towns, it would be the end.
But now, barracks were being built at a breathtaking speed, leaving almost all the clans and families with their jaws dropped to the ground.
"Where did they get the funds to support all this?!" They couldn't help but wonder.
However, they had the answers a couple of days later when the Spirit Comms design appeared in the market.
At first, the people were skeptical about the new Spirit Comms, wondering if they would work like the Celestial Heavenly Sect's.
However, when the major merchant families realized that the technique in creating the Spirit Comms was given by the Celestial Heavenly Sect, they were astounded and skeptical, but some curious ones still bought it.
When they realized it was working perfectly fine like the Spirit Comms from the Celestial Heavenly Sect, it left everyone dumbfounded.
Immediately, those who couldn't get the Spirit Comms from the sect hall now had an alternative, though it was three times as costly.
Most people didn't care as long as they could have it and communicate with their loved ones.
The Shu clan's Spirit Comms were black with stripes of white, while the Jin's were fiery red, and the Gao clan designed theirs with silver colors.
These major families quickly dominated the market with their Spirit Comms.
The widespread use of Spirit Comms enabled the barren land to enter the communication age at a quicker pace.
Inside the Celestial Heavenly Sect sacred ground, Su Yen looked at the hovering pagoda and smiled.
"With the new update, the Spirit would be more like a mobile phone," he thought and left the sacred ground.
After using the Spirit Comms for a couple of days, he realized there were many shortcomings in it.
The continuous barrage of calls disrupting people's attention was frustrating. While cultivating, any sudden call could disrupt your attention.
Some who were fighting a beast might be unfortunate and receive a call at that moment, which could lead to their death.
There were many cases where the call may cause harm rather than help.
Thus, he needed to do something before it started killing people.
With the new upgrade, they could put their Spirit Comms in 'Do Not Disturb' or 'Silent Mode'.
Also, they had a phone book and missed calls.
Coming out of the sacred ground, he was accosted by Elder Jie.
"Sect Master…" He bowed respectfully.
Su Yen raised his head, looked at him, and asked, "What is it?"n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
"The preparation for the sect recruitment has been completed. Also, the barracks are going according to plan. We should complete them in a month's time," Elder Jie responded.
"Good, how many people have we recruited to the army so far?" He asked.
"Eight hundred thousand and still counting," Elder Jie replied, looking at Su Yen with a questioning gaze.
"Just ask what's on your mind?" Su Yen said and began to walk back to his courtyard.
"Sect master, why do we need such a large army?" He asked in a low voice.
This was the question on everyone's mind.
When Su Yen heard Elder Jie's question, he halted in his tracks, looked down from the mountain for a moment before turning to look at him.
"Why do you think there is no sect in the barren land?" He asked calmly.
Hearing the question, Elder Jie was astounded and opened his mouth to speak, but no words came out.
Seeing this, Su Yen shook his head and continued.
"We are the first sect in the barren land after many centuries. Do you think others didn't have the intention of creating a sect?"
"The trouble that comes along with creating a sect is greater than what an ordinary clan could shoulder. And if we are not careful, this may lead to our doom."
"Therefore, since we created something that others couldn't do, we must be ready to face what others couldn't face."
"Thus, this is a preparation for the incoming storm…" He concluded, staring direly into Elder Jie's eyes.
For a couple of seconds, Elder Jie froze as he was trying to process what he had just learned from Su Yen.
Looking at him, Su Yen was patient and waited for him to digest what he had just told him.
After regaining his composure, Elder Jie looked at Su Yen with a complicated gaze and said.
"So, the barren land won't be so peaceful from now on."
"Indeed," Su Yen nodded, not trying to hide it before saying.
"But it will only be for a short period of time. When our force becomes unstoppable, no one will dare threaten our land." His voice was full of confidence.
Hearing Su Yen's confidence, Elder Jie was somewhat relaxed. Since Su Yen took the mantle of the Su sacred land, he had never failed them before.
Thus, they had all developed a blind trust in him.
As for Su Yen, he waved his hand, looked at Elder Jie with a light smile creeping up to the corner of his lips.
"Congratulations on becoming a Qi Refinement expert."
When Elder Jie heard this, a light chuckle escaped from his mouth, plastered with a pleasing grin.
"Thank you, Sect Master. If not for your help, I would be stuck at the Body Building realm for the rest of my life."
"Don't get complacent; this is just the beginning. We're all weak right now, and we need to get stronger quickly," Su Yen reminded.
"I know, and I will continue to work hard," Elder Jie responded with deep determination.
"But I'm not the only one who promoted to the Qi Refinement realm. Your elder brother promoted before me," he added with a smile.
"Hmm, that's great," Su Yen nodded with a smile.
Just then, he received a notification from his Spirit Comms.
With a wave of his hand, he sent Elder Jie away and answered the call.
At once, he heard Huang Yin's mesmerizing voice.
"Hubby, are you going to turn the barren land into your backyard with this massive movement?" Huang Yin teased.
"What do you think? Are you not going to support your husband?" He responded with a chuckle.
"Of course, I will," she responded confidently.
"As for the spirit stone mine under the Southern sea, I've sent my brother with the pirates to check it out, if we can find the spirit vein?"
