Chapter 156: The Ruthless Zimo
The Southern sea lay eerily quiet, thick with the stench of blood permeating the air, while lifeless bodies floated on the water's surface.
Wang Duyi's headless corpse drifted on the sea, his head lost to the depths, a macabre testament to the recent carnage. The Grim Reaper Zimo observed the empty sea with a casual expression, and no one would attribute the just-concluded massacre to him.
"Why are they so few?" he muttered, shaking his head.
Su Yen, upon hearing this, looked at him, and the corner of his lip curled up. He thought he was ruthless, but compared to this young man, he still had a lot to learn.
Suddenly, Su Yen creased his brow, took off into the sky, and disappeared like a raging bolt of thunder.
Immediately, everyone from the Barren Land knitted their brows, wondering what was going on. Huang Yin looked at a certain direction and commanded the ship to sail in that direction.
A couple of kilometers from the Barren Landers, a ship was trying its best to escape with all its might. On the ship, everyone wore pensive gazes, fear etched on their faces. No one dared make noise as they concentrated their manpower on escaping.
Right in the path of the escaping ship, a silhouette descended slowly from the sky. He looked at the incoming ship with a calm expression on his face.
However, when those on the ship saw him, a dreadful feeling swept over them. Their hearts pounded heavily against their chests.
They looked at each other, not knowing what to do or how to react.
The air became heavy with tension as the mysterious figure continued his descent. His presence alone seemed to weigh down on the escaping ship like an impending storm.
Onboard, the passengers exchanged nervous glances, their fear palpable.
Whispers of uncertainty filled the air, and a cold sweat broke out on the brows of those attempting to flee.
As the figure touched down on the ship's deck, a sudden silence enveloped the scene.
The passengers, frozen in terror, awaited the unfolding of their fate.
The mysterious man glanced over the ship's occupants with an unreadable expression. His eyes, cold and penetrating, seemed to pierce through their very souls.
It was a gaze that sent shivers down their spines.
From the depths of the ship's chamber emerged a middle-aged woman, her presence commanding attention.
Standing tall and exuding an air of authority, she moved with a grace that belied the weight of responsibility she carried.
Beside her, an older man with a hunched back followed, his steps deliberate yet burdened.
The woman, in the prime of her later thirties, possessed a figure that demanded notice.
Her voluminous chest and ample curves were accentuated by a yellow robe that clung to her body like a second skin.
The fabric, overflowing with opulence, revealed the contours of her form, leaving little to the imagination.
Stopping a couple of feet from the mysterious young man, she bowed and asked.
"Esteemed guest, how may I help you?"
Su Yen looked at the curvaceous figure of the woman and her ample bosom for a split of second before he averted his gaze. He looked at the woman without uttering a word before fixing his gaze at the crunch old man.
The woman was a cultivator of Early Foundation Building Stage 1 while the crunch old man was a cultivator of Early Foundation Building realm stage 3.
To him and any other Barren Landers, these two were just too weak to be considered a threat. Even though the woman was quite enticing to the eyes, that was all.
Meanwhile, the ship was still, and the heaviness in the air was like a massive mountain on their back. Sweats dripped from the faces of everyone; no one dared wipe it off.
Even though Su Yen didn't exude any kind of pressure. But the mere fact he descended from the sky spoke enough.
The woman didn't look directly at Su Yen, but her expression was anything but good. She looked at her protector from the corner of her eyes and spoke using voice transmission.
'Who do you think this young man is?' she asked.
'I don't know… He must be from a bigger city and from a powerful clan.' The old man responded.
'Then what should we do?'
'Let's wait and see. If he isn't hostile, we can talk things through with him, and if not…' He paused for a second. 'I handle it while you escape.'
Su Yen looked at the duo in front as he watched them communicate through voice transmission. He knew they were communicating and didn't care. Currently, he hadn't decided what to do with them and decided to wait for how everything would unfold.
For the next couple of minutes, the ship was in total silence. By now, everyone was thrown into a state of confusion. They've never encountered such a situation in their life.
Most times, the powerful ones would either start attacking or demand a huge amount of wealth for their lives. But now…
The old man couldn't bear the silence any longer and asked in a cold voice. "Can you tell us why you boarded our ship? If you're not going to speak, why keep us? Then you leave us with no choice but to continue our journey."
With that, the atmosphere on the ship dropped a couple of degrees as everyone sucked in a cold breath, waiting for Su Yen's action.
But to their dismay, Su Yen didn't have any change in expression. He only glanced at the old man before he averted his gaze.
His confident demeanor and nonchalant gaze threw the people into a whirlpool of puzzlement. They were already at the edge, but seeing his calm and collected attitude, they were speechless.
"Please, if you need anything. Don't hesitate to ask," the woman still maintained her polite response.
In that moment, a ship sailed toward their direction at top speed. Seeing the incoming ship, the expression of everyone on the ship became bitter.
The panic and fear were so evident that some were already trembling. Tears gathered in the corner of their eyes. The woman and the old man shivered slightly.
Things had gone out of hand.
Even if they wanted to escape, they can't anymore.
Shortly, the Barren Lander ship stopped beside them. Three people jumped into the ship. They had expressionless faces.
Huang Yin and Su Ming looked at them for a couple of moments before they averted their gaze. However, Zimo looked at the crunch old man and walked steadily toward him.
With each step, the woman and old man retreated with trembling legs. The woman wanted to plead but didn't know who to beg. Is it the young man in white or the cold killing machine that was approaching them.
Zimo stood right in front of the old man and asked coldly. "You're saying?"
The old man's face twitched continuously. Previously, he would have lashed out at this naive-looking young man, but he witnessed how Zimo mercilessly butchered people without blinking an eye.
Compared to the people he slaughtered, he was quite weak. If those strong people can't withstand a single of his attack, how could he, a weak early Foundation Building realm, withstand his?
"Sect master, do you want his corpse intact or not?" Zimo asked not looking in Su Yen's direction
.
Huh!
Hearing this, everyone sucked in a breath and their spines drenched in cold sweats. As for the old man, his legs were visibly shaking. Sweat poured down from his head like rain.
Looking at how her protector was being intimidated, the woman was both shocked and furious. But she knew better. In Lotus world, strength speaks.
Her fury and anger meant nothing in the present of absolute strength.
As for Su Yen, he rolled his eyes. When did the Barren Landers become this ruthless? He needed to teach his people to be compassionate. With that thought, he spoke for the first time on the ship.
"You need to be compassionate. Being too ruthless is not good for your Dao heart." He spoke with a righteous tone.
Hearing this, they sighed in relief while the old man could see bright light at the end of the tunnel. But then, everything changed with Su Yen's next sentence.
"Next time, you don't ask when you ask to kill. Never leave the corpse of your enemy intact. Do you understand?"
"I understand," Zimo nodded seriously.
Before everyone could understand what was going on, Zimo unsheathed his sword. A massive pressure descended on the old man.
The old man only saw a bright flash of light, and his head sailed to the sky. Blood splashed continuously from the neck of the body of the old man. With a kick from Zimo, it sent the body flying into the sea.
Everything happened in a blink, giving the people the impression that it was an illusion. The woman did not believe the protector that protected her since she was a kid had just died like that.
Regret etched on her face. She was the one that insisted on following the top clan and see what they were up to and now… Tears hung at the corner of her eyes.
"What should I do with you all?" Su Yen didn't care about the life of the old man. He was only contemplating how to handle them.
He didn't want to start an unending massacre, but these people saw Zimo using the pagoda bloodline. Therefore, he couldn't let them go that easily.
"You are from the main continent, right?" He asked.
"Yes," the woman nodded. She took a deep breath to calm the sorrow in her heart.
"Good. What is your name?" Su Yen asked.
"I'm Meng from the Gao clan," Meng responded respectfully.
"Meng from the Gao clan, if you want to survive, you will have to do what I ask. Will you?"
"I'm at your service, young master."
"Good. Let's go back to the Barren Land. We have a lot to discuss."
Huang Yin looked at Su Yen for a couple of seconds before turning to look at the middle-aged woman. Her instincts were telling her something was amiss, but she couldn't pinpoint it.
