Chapter 10 Twice In One Morning
*************
CHAPTER 10
Soon enough, it was already Tuesday and she did her best to ignore all of Wu Bai's calls. He stopped, waiting for her arrival at work.
Sadly, she never went. She had bigger sharks to catch.
Walking into the big complex of the Liu Corporation, Andromeda, swept her gaze through the entire height of the building and sighed.
Taking her steps like an important guest, she was soon standing face to face with the big glass doors.
Her chest rose and fell as it opened to let her in.
From what she saw around, she needed to ask for his office and converse with the receptionist. But not having an appointment, she knew how hard it was going to be.
While she contemplated her move, she heard a car pull up at the entrance and three men came out to welcome him.
The way and manner in which he walked, exuding his charm and dominance, told her he was an important guest.
She waited for him to enter the building and once in, several heads bowed to him, giving her the cue that he was her golden ticket.
The young man who was least expecting anything from anyone was shocked when a dashing young lady warmed up to him and locked their elbows together.
His brows raised at her in a silent question, but the bewitching charming smile she beamed at him, made him relax and play along.
"Shall we?" Andromeda smiled some more.
Sensing something amiss, he returned her smile and they walked off in the direction of the elevator with neither of them speaking.
DING!
As soon as they walked in and the door of the elevator closed, she released him and took some steps away from him. "Thank you."
His brow raised at her action. "Nah, not on my watch, missy." He closed the gap between them, wrapping his hands on her waist as he pulled her body to his. "You cannot use me and dump me just like that."
"Huh, Mister, how much should I pay you for your help?" She blinked charmingly at him.
"What?"
"Yes. How much should I pay for your service? 500 yuan, 1000 perhaps? Oh no. Would $100 be okay, Mr…?" Her voice trailed off while her eyes moved from his face to his suit pocket.
He narrowed his gaze at her. She was something else, different to say the least.
He thought she was one of his many fans or some new important guest as well who knew him. Turns out she wasn't and only needed him to get in.
"Umm, seeing as you have no name tag, I can say you are not an employee here. You are rich judging from your outfit, so I think you would not be needing it." She brought her gaze back up to stare into his eyes.
"I would love to pay you, but sadly, my thanks are all I can give."
"You are something else, you know that? This is the first time I met someone as daring as you try and pay me off after using me."
"Well, do not think too much about it. You did not render that much service, but if you insist, I would be forced to think you are asking payment for your body." Her smile remained while she hinted for him to let her go.
A mischievous glint flashed before his eyes, masking his initial shock with sly intent.
"Be a darling and let me go."
Sure enough, he released her and chuckled lightly as she took a step back. "Missy, I can turn this elevator down and hand you over to security." He stepped forward, imposing his mighty aura on her.
"Okay, if that is so bad for you, how about I owe you a favour. So long as it is what I can grant, only," she emphasized, "then sure, I would do it."
"Good then. I hope you do not go back on your word, Miss…"
"Miss Kai."
"I won't forget." Just then the sound of the elevator alerted him of his stop and he fixed up his suit.
Turning around swiftly, he shook his head as he let out his thought, "I bet when he hears how I got used, it would be the talk of the century. Ciao."
As soon as he left, she released the breath she had been holding in. "That went well."
A couple of seconds later, she arrived at the top floor and exited. Everywhere seemed so different and strange from what she was used to at the Wu's company.
However, being smart, she quickly found her way to the CEO's office but was stopped by his secretary's desk.
"Hello, Miss, Morning. Please may I know you? And what business you have here?" She asked sizing her up.
"Hello. Good morning. My name is Andromeda Kia."
Quickly, the secretary typed away on her computer and seconds after, she fixed her gaze back on Andromeda.
"You do not have a meeting scheduled, ma."
"Yes. I came to see your boss."
"Is he expecting you?" she narrowed her eyes at Andromeda. She had seen lots of women both richly appointed and those who had enough class, try to steal a meeting with her boss but each time they tried, it never ended well.
They did not have a schedule planned but somehow, they got there. Seeing this situation again, the secretary knew the security team needed to be thoroughly warned.
"Not really."
"Then I am sorry. His schedule is full. You can check back in three months." She gave Andromeda her best smile while hiding her sarcasm.
"Uh," her gaze swept down to her name tag. She had seen nosy secretaries and assistants like this. She wasn't new to their attitude. "Miss Fu," the secretary smiled again. "Tell your boss that the lady who would help take his fashion industry to the top is here to see him.
"I am sorry ma. I already told you. You cannot see him. He is not on his seat."
"I would not leave here and neither would you work until you grant my request."
Her gaze became sharp at the mild threat and she reached for the telephone.
"Huh…" Andromeda tsked. "There would be no need for security. Tell him the lady who emailed those exclusive designs to him, is here. And I suggest you do that, or you would be causing this company a major loss. We both know that can't be good, right?"
As much as she disliked the air about Andromeda and her imposing aura, there were things she did not wish to tamper with.
It was true that although they led the entertainment world, they remained second in the fashion world.
Besides, judging from Andromeda's fashion sense, she knew that she wasn't all talk but she could not disregard the fact that he wasn't in.
"I am sorry, as I earlier said, he is not in and you cannot wait for him. Try another day."
"I…" she had just begun speaking when the secretary's gaze moved from hers and a surprising look plastered on her face before she half turned and bowed her head.
"Welcome sir," she heard her say.
"Chu Hua, what is this squabble about?"
Sensing the change in the aura that was there, she too turned to see who had come in. And to her amazement, her gaze landed on the dashing young man she recently met.
"You!" Andromeda pointed. "Are you stalking me now?" she attacked again.
He could not believe his ears. First, she used him and now she accused him of stalking her. Did her squirms know no bounds?
"I should be asking you that," he corrected her.
"What are you doing here then?"
His brows raised in the ever-questioning manner as he sized her up properly. Ignoring her, he averted his gaze to his secretary, awaiting an explanation.
"Sir, she claims to have sent you some exclusive designs and wishes to see you."
For a split second there, Andromeda could well guess that she saw his shock imprinted on his face but as quickly as it came, it was over. All that was left was the same stoic expression he walked in with.
That was not what bugged her. She was shocked by the big reveal. Stunned, she was forced to ask. "You… You're the one?"
She narrowed her eyes at him as her mind compared the picture she had seen of him in the file her assistant sent her and his actual person.
Due to the rush of the matter, Peng Xiaoli could not find a frontal picture of him but a side view and she had completely messed up.
'Damn it, Andromeda! How could you not have recognized him? There is some similarity if you check the angel properly.'
She facepalmed herself in her mind, ignoring the next words the two spoke to each other.
"She said she can take Starlight Apparel to the top," Fu Chu Hua added suddenly.
"I see." He moved his gaze back to her and took a specific glance at her outfit and her appearance.
Andromeda felt naked under his x-ray eyes and shuddered a bit when his gaze came back to her face.
Seeing this as her opportunity to make a good impression as compared to her previous one, she tried again. "We started on a wrong foot. My apologies. I…"
He did not let her finish her sentence when he cut her off. "Come with me."
Fu Chu Hua who had still not known Andromeda could only wonder what hold she might have and how important she was to their success.
She watched as he walked past her, and then Andromeda followed but not before letting off a lovely smile. "No time to waste when we have a goal to catch. I can take it from here."
