Chapter 2437 Escape
Chapter 2437 Escape
Emery had spent the last four hours tirelessly casting his spatial gate, ferrying over half a million Valaryn civilians to the relative safety of checkpoints. He had just finished transporting the last group from checkpoints six to seven when a frantic message from Lyanna shattered his focus.
There was a high probability that Agis's elder dragon would be coming for him.
Emery stiffened. Fighting the dragon without its rider might not have been the worst scenario under normal circumstances. But there were more pressing concerns, the evacuation was still underway, and he could not afford to let the civilians be caught in the crossfire. More troubling was the realization that the dragon would likely not be the only threat sent after him.
Realizing the growing danger his presence posed, Emery decided to excuse himself from the mission. His contributions to the exodus mission had been monumental— and none of the magus questioned his decision to leave. Emery entrusted the last remaining 1,000-mile trek and the civilians' safety to Grand Magus Shahi and the Valaryn Shaman.
Yet, two people refused to let him go so easily; Klea and his daughter Shinta.
"They are still hunting you, aren't they?" Klea asked. Shinta, standing close, looked equally troubled.
"I need to draw them away," Emery admitted, his voice heavy with resolve. "You two must stay with the group"
Klea, ever the perceptive one, didn't argue but instead studied the situation closely. Her sharp intuition came with a troubling thought "Sending a dragon after you in the middle of this battle? This isn't just because you're a wanted man. Something else is at play."
Her words struck a chord and a cold realization settled over him as a group came to mind.
"The Void Stalkers," he murmured.
The memory of the relentless hunters who had pursued him through the Demon's Pit prison resurfaced. Emery's face darkened as the gravity of the situation sank in. If it was indeed the Void Stalkers, then this was far worse than he had initially thought. They were not just relentless, they could trace his spatial gate signatures. They were driven by a singular goal—to take his Khaos Gate.
Realizing the gravity of the situation, Emery swiftly altered his plan. He couldn't afford to stay on the planet any longer. Not just him, but the threat extended to Shinta, Ha Ron, and Kingrig as each of them bore the mark of Khaos Seeds, there was every chance they could trace the marks.
Emery explained the situation to Klea, entrusting her with the responsibility of looking after the remaining acolytes.
"Yes, Be careful," she said.
Wasting no more time, Emery swiftly activated his domain, pulling Shinta, Ha Ron, and Kingrig into his domain. With them secured, he turned his focus to the task at hand and began his journey toward the Homebase.

Above the war-torn Valaryn Planet, on its barren moon, the Magus Alliance's heavily fortified outpost stood as a bastion of safety amid the chaos. The once desolate moon now teemed with activity, filled with an armada of heavy transport ships, each packed with civilians fleeing the planet.
The first two batches of over 400,000 Valaryn civilians had already disembarked from their respective ships, a testament to the tireless efforts of those orchestrating the exodus. The third batch was now boarding the third transport ship, while the fourth batch had just emerged through the shimmering teleportation portal, freshly arriving from the planet's surface.
The Moonbase was a fortress. Dozens of turrets, their sleek metal barrels glinting under the cold light of space, were positioned strategically around the outpost. half a dozen fighter ships, patrolled the perimeter, scanning for any threats. Above it all, a massive destroyer hovered silently in space, its dark hull and heavy weaponry a constant reminder of the might the Magus Alliance could unleash if provoked.
Within the fortified base, over 500 human warriors were stationed, their presence a mix of vigilance and readiness. Of these, 100 were magus-level warriors, while three stood in the Grand Magus realm. These warriors were not just guarding the outpost; they were ensuring the safe passage of the fleeing civilians.
Standing tall with his stark white hair and imposing demeanor, was a high-ranking Grand Magus figure: Major Slovak, who had recently been in charge of the Ruins City outpost. "I've done my part. The first two batches are secured and I'll be joining the third to leave this planet," declared the white-haired Major Slovak, his voice firm and resolute. As the highest-ranking among the three Grand Magus present, his words carried the weight of command, leaving no room for negotiation.
"Yes, sir. Thank you for your service," one of the stationed magus officers replied, bowing slightly as Slovak turned to head toward the waiting transport ship.
However, just as the Major approached the ramp, the lights across the Moonbase flared to life, bathing the area in a harsh red glow. An emergency siren blared through the facility, its piercing tone cutting through the air and sending a wave of tension rippling through the personnel. n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
"What's going on?!" Slovak barked, his sharp voice cutting through the chaos.
"Sir, we're under attack! Multiple dark elf ships are inbound and closing fast!"
The Major's eyes narrowed as he processed the information.
"No!! Why are they attacking here!!"
For a brief moment, his lips pressed into a thin line before he shook his head and muttered to himself, "No, no... This isn't my post. This isn't my problem."
Despite the alarms and the looming threat, Slovak appeared adamant, resolutely turning back toward the ship. However, as fate would have it, the transport ship he was about to board began to rise. Its docking clamps released with a resounding hiss, and the ship steadily ascended, leaving the moonbase below.
"No!" Slovak shouted, his voice a mixture of anger and disbelief.
Around him, the Moonbase erupted into activity. Soldiers scrambled to defensive positions, turrets swiveled toward the approaching enemy.
