Chapter 493: A Mad Decision

Rapidly traversing the cold waters of the sea of life, the two figures swiftly swarmed downward with horrifying speed. As they rapidly approached the bottom of the sea, Zeras expected to see nothing but sand, but instead, he beheld an entirely new world of mountains and large peaks beneath the sea itself.

Looking at the mountains, he could see various holes carved into them, resembling cultivation chambers. Despite the hundreds of chambers in each mountain, Audrey didn’t stop, ignoring them as he led Zeras deeper through the ocean of mountains. After traversing for more than hours, they arrived before a gigantic mountain that almost covered their entire sight.

Standing before it, Audrey stretched out his hands and touched the mountain surface. Magical green light emanated from the runic lines inscribed on it. After waiting for a minute for all the runes to brighten, a dark vortex materialized out of the runes, revolving like a black hole. Audrey turned to look at Zeras, and in the next second, he flared out brightly with green energy, creating a domain that pushed away the water, forming an empty water domain around them.

“The event starts in just three weeks. If you don’t exit back then, I’ll come looking for you. But you can rest assured, none but me can open this up, so you can cultivate without having to worry about anything. And if you’re serious about the scream, then I assure you, not a single soul will hear your scream, perhaps save for your cat which has been dying to be a great fisherman for the past three days…” Audrey said, pointing towards a place where Zeras could see Fluffy jumping around the water surface.

“I never knew void cats like fishing. And Is it just me or is that tiny thing walking on the water? How the hell did you even get your hands on a four striped cat, Zeras.

He would be able to control a total of four elements once it properly grew up. No doubt become a very useful companion.Perhaps, a war pet?” Audrey said as they both looked at fluffy, clicking his tongue in how lucky Zeras was.

Unfortunately, the thought of Fluffy ever fighting has never crossed Zera’s mind at all. He simply allowed the cat to have its way all the time, but nonetheless, he would kill anyone who dared to purposefully harm a single fur on it, without excuse.

“Thank you, Audrey,” Zeras said as Audrey simply shrugged it off. Immediately, Zeras entered the dark portal, which closed behind him as Audrey stood in the water, looking at the cave with furrowed eyebrows. When he had met Zeras at the top of the mountain, he had sensed some strange change in him that he couldn’t quite place. Now, when Zeras asked for a place to cultivate silently, it piqued his curiosity even more, as he had learned from the D’arvey that Zeras had not cultivated a single time throughout their journey.

“Whatever happens, I look forward to that change in three weeks,” Audrey said to himself before swiftly ascending, leaving the sea in absolute quietness.

Immediately, Zeras stepped through the portal, feeling like he had entered a completely different world as a strange energy assaulted him. Noticing it wasn’t Mana but some sort of new energy, he felt all his headaches slowly clearing away.

Looking around, he saw he was in some sort of cave, with a pool of liquid at the center, its colors forever changing.

“Scan,” Zeras ordered, and immediately, the god notification panel appeared in front of his face.

“Pool of life: A pool containing one of the purest essences in this world. The essence of life. Very good in curing consciousness,” the notification read.

“Hmm, seems he didn’t forget about what I asked him,” Zeras muttered to himself as he looked around the cave.

“Right at the farthest area of the sea, not a single soul would be able to hear me from here…”

“What is the host planning to do?” the system asked.

“Become what I ought to have been since all this while,” Zeras replied as he took off all of his clothes, leaving only his underwear.

“If the host is talking about forcefully fusing with the crystals, then the host is simply asking for suicide,” the system warned.

“Really?” Zeras asked as he stepped into the pool, feeling a cold sensation spreading through his body as he transformed into his true form, a three-meter-tall devil coated in red scales.

“Yes. According to the system’s estimate, the host had not yet been able to fuse with another crystal because the host’s soul space and the golden necklace are slowly establishing a new connection. Unfortunately, the connection was broken by Jason Celestria…”

“Seems Jason did more damage than we thought he did,” Zeras replied, unperturbed.

“But now the necklace has found its way back to the host and is rapidly establishing that connection. According to the system’s estimate, in just 5 or 6 more years, the connection would have been complete, and the host will be able to naturally fuse with one more crystal and obtain a new gene,” the system explained.

“And how many years will it take to fuse with the third crystal?” Zeras inquired.

“According to the system’s estimate, around five years after the host fuses with the second crystal…”

“So it’ll take every five years to fuse with a new crystal, and there are more than a thousand crystals there. How long would it take to fuse with them all? Five thousand years? Five thousand years to reach my full potential, something that I ought to reach, since all this while, if not for mishap?” Zeras pondered aloud.

And the system remained silent.

“I can’t wait. I can’t wait for five thousand bloody years before I become worthy enough of my own mother! I’ll be devouring all those crystals right now! And I’ll appear before that fucking snake and force him to spill out all those fucking secrets. I’ve waited fucking enough already,” Zeras screamed out in anger.
