Chapter 87 Information And Lunch
The twenty-five-minute drive flew by. Lee Seng pushed the screen as he pulled up to the garage door. The door opened and he slowly pulled into the underground parking lot. Lee Seng circle around to the other side of the parking lot and pulled into a spot fairly close to the elevator. He shut off his car and grabbed his phone.
Stepping out of his car, he shut his car door and locked it. Lee Seng casually moved towards the elevator and hit the button to go up. He unlocked his phone in his hand and noticed he had an email. He hit the email and realized it had come from the Academy.
FROM: Capitol City Academy <CapCityA>
TO: Lee Seng Chang <l.seng.chang>
SUBJECT: Off-Campus Housing Requirements & Invitation
We have been informed of your interest in off-campus housing. This is one of two housing options for all Academy students. In order for our students to get the best experience at the Academy before they move onto their careers, we have the option of off-campus housing.
What is off-campus housing?
Off-campus housing is mainly an imitation of what the Adventurer guild does with their groups. Students have the choice to create groups with other students and go on missions with them. The students need to:
1. Be in the same year. Students in the same year will follow similar curriculum structures. Year 4 students will primarily be focusing on solidifying their career paths. Teams must be formed within the same year groups. No teams will be formed with different years due to the difference in curriculum with exceptions of combined field tests.
2. The minimum needed to get into off-campus housing is four people. Students are encouraged to move in together. We encourage students to be in their field groups so it's easier to build and grow relationships within the field groups. The maximum of a group is six.
What's a field group?
Field groups are what the Academy uses to mimic group work used in many career fields such as Adventurers, Police, Army, medical work, etc. Group collaboration that starts early can solidify and help students understand their roles based on their own classifications and skills.
Field groups are more permanent while at the Academy, but group work with other students can be used at any given time to help mix different personalities and different people together.
Where do I go for off-campus housing?

The elevator door opened and he looked up. Nobody was in it, so he stepped in and hit the fourth-floor button, and stared at the email again. The email had flyers attached to it, so he clicked them and re-read the simplified information. The elevator came to a stop and he looked up.
1st Floor
The door pulled open and two women stepped in, giving Lee Seng a long look before realizing they were being rude and hitting the third-floor button. They began to quietly chat amongst themselves while Lee Seng continued to read through the flyer information.
'So the information I got was correct, then.' Lee Seng shut his phone off and folded his arms as the elevator continued upwards. Lee Seng curled his tail as he pressed against the elevator wall. He wrapped his tail to his left, letting it freely sway from its spot as he continued thinking.
'The Academy uses the field group as one of the primary ways to encourage teamwork while also building on core mechanics used in the Big Three work fields. Field groups would help everyone understand their roles within a group. That could help me better, but I should be careful and test it out with Olivia, Evan, and Ritsuka first. I don't know how we would do in a group, so I need to be careful otherwise I'll be stuck with people I don't want.'
The elevator came to a stop and the ladies stepped out as the doors pulled open. Lee Seng stepped over and hit the close button and watched as the door shut and the elevator started to move.
"It's either take a gamble and group with people I'm not familiar with and potentially have them dislike me or become a mercenary and have my reputation go against me." Lee Seng summarized. He sighed and ran his fingers through his hair. The elevator came to a stop and the doors opened. Lee Seng started his path to his apartment, rounding the corner and lingering on his own summary.
Lee Seng reached his apartment door at the end and punched his keycode in and listened to the door chime and unlock. He opened the door and could hear the sounds of news playing and sizzling noises. Lee Seng pushed through and closed the door behind him, listening to the door chime go off again before it immediately locked it.
Lee Seng took off his shoes and shuffled over to the couch and sat down.
"Your back already? The food is almost done!" Akio shouted.
"Mmm." Lee Seng answered.
"...and that's the weather for today. Back to you, Jill." The weatherman spoke.
"Thank you, John. We've just been informed by the Adventurer and Police force that horde attacks on the city have grown more frequent on the Outskirts and surrounding smaller cities and villages in Capitol CIty. The first notable attack happened two weeks ago with Number 10, Akio Kato, and the Creator's Son, Lee Seng Chang. The attack two weeks ago caused a lot of damage to the city as well as injured and a few deaths. The subsequent attacks that followed were smaller hordes of goblins trying to infiltrate the city.
"The Director of Communications at the Adventurers Guild, Dinah Hart, commented saying 'The horde attacks that started two weeks ago have decreased in number with subsequent attacks. We advise everyone to be on the lookout for attacks. Alert the authorities if you come across any potential invasions.'"
Lee Seng clicked the power off button and threw the remote to the side.
"Why'd you shut it off? I was listening to that." Akio asked as he shut off the stove. Lee Seng stood up and wandered over to the bar counter and leaned on it. He noticed Akio had fresh, pan-fried dumplings on a plate, eggs, and a pan full of stir-fried ground beef with tomatoes and green and yellow bell peppers. Lee Seng's mouth started to water as Akio quickly moved the pan off to the side and turned to look at Lee Seng.
"You did make my favorites. Especially my favorite stir fry and egg combo." Lee Seng smiled.
"Of course I did. I know you like this more than anything else. If I was better at wrapping egg rolls, I would've made that, but I was pressed for time and I didn't want you to wait too long." Akio wiped his hands with the towel strapped to his side. He wore the apron he gave to Lee Seng as part of his housewarming gift. The apron was a picture of a man's ripped body plastered over the front of the apron. Lee Seng used it enough to get over the initial embarrassment but always found himself back to embarrassed whenever Akio wore it.
"Are you done? I'm hungry and feel like doing nothing after this." Lee Seng grinned. Akio shook his head with a small smile and turned to the food.
"Let's eat then," Akio answered.
The two found themselves sitting at the end of the kitchen where the small two chairs and table were. Lee Seng gobbled don the food, happily as Akio slowly went through his food.
"Oh, so my partner in the duo part of the exam wants to create a group with me and two others." Lee Seng casually brought up with a mouthful of food.
"You already got a field group going? Shouldn't you do a field group test before you make that decision?" Akio asked.
"Mmm, we will," Lee Seng nodded as he swallowed his food and took a chug of water. "They all seemed nice. I got an email about the 'benefits' of creating a field group. Olivia gave me some information from Ritsuka about it cause his older sibling goes or went to the Academy. She said that he said that his sibling said off-campus housing is basically easier for a team to work together and gives more benefits in the long run. If that doesn't work then mercenary work would have to happen because you aren't in a group or whatever."
"Who's Ritsuka?"
"Oh, Ritsuka is this Japanese dude I fought against in my last fight before I blipped into Limbo. He and his teammate, Evan, are proposing we create a team since we hit Top 5 in the solo field test."
"What about the other Top 5 person? Are you guys gonna ask her?"
"Mmm, I didn't hear anything about that. I should ask but from the way the conversation was going, Olivia made it sound like it was just the four of us. We could ask her if she did get in. I don't remember her name, though. Anyways, the field group maximum is six people, so we have two extra spots."
