Sun Boyi opened his phone and followed the navigation to lead Qiao Sang to a large gray flying-type beast.

This gray flying beast had a flight license printed on its side and a seat arrangement on its back that could accommodate 10 people. Most of the seats were already occupied, leaving only two empty spots.

"Driver, is this heading to the Moting Hotel?" Sun Boyi asked.

"Yes." Replied a middle-aged man seated alone in the front row.

He turned to confirm, "Is your tail number 3345?"

"Yes." Sun Boyi nodded.

"Hop on." The man said.

Once Qiao Sang and Sun Boyi climbed aboard, fastened their seatbelts, and settled in, the gray flying beast spread its wings and took off.

Under the vast night sky, various flying beasts carried passengers at a steady pace.

The imperial capital was dazzlingly prosperous at night, adorned with stunning holographic neon lights. The gray flying beast didn't fly too high, so looking down, one could see some remarkably striking buildings.

"Yap Yap!"

Yabao's eyes sparkled as he watched other flying beasts pass by and took in the view below.

At that moment, a mechanical voice sounded:

[Great Barbarian Bird, a high-level flying beast. Although forgetful and not very intelligent, it is diligent and approachable. Its evolved forms are typically much larger than other beasts of the same level, making it popular among beastmasters.]

Hearing this, the surrounding passengers turned to locate the source of the voice.

Qiao Sang silently reached up to remove Little Treasure from her head. As expected, the little creature was clutching a beast identifier in his claws.

"Xun~"

Little Treasure blinked innocently.

Qiao Sang: …

"Bar-bar!"

Meanwhile, the Great Barbarian Bird, hearing itself described as forgetful and not very intelligent, appeared displeased. But as soon as it heard it was well-loved by beastmasters, it instantly forgot the earlier comment, chirped happily, flapped its wings energetically, and sped up.

Half an hour later.

"We've arrived at the Moting Hotel." The middle-aged man announced from the front row.

After disembarking from the Great Barbarian Bird, Qiao Sang looked up at the luxurious hotel before her, stunned.

"Is the school always this extravagant?" She wondered aloud.

As Sun Boyi led her inside, he remarked, "The vice-principal has already arrived."

"The vice-principal is here?" Qiao Sang asked in surprise.

Sun Boyi glanced at her with a smile.

"You're currently the only student from our school to make it to the national championship. Of course, the vice-principal had to come to ensure everything goes smoothly. The principal wanted to come too, but since the national championship spans several days, one of them had to stay behind at the school. So, the principal couldn't make it." ŗ

So I’m the school’s sole hope now, Qiao Sang thought.

No wonder the accommodations were so good this time, even though she hadn’t made any requests. It turned out all the competition funds were being spent on her.

At the door to her hotel room, Sun Boyi excused himself. Qiao Sang, carrying Yabao, entered alone.

Not long after, there was a knock on the door.

When she opened it, she found Teacher Sun and the vice-principal standing outside.

"Vice-principal!" Qiao Sang greeted them.

"I brought food for your beasts." Liu Yao said with a smile, lifting the bag in his hand.

"Yap!"

Inside, Yabao sniffed the air, immediately perked up, and ran over excitedly.

"Xun~"

Little Treasure quickly stashed the ant he had just pulled out and followed behind.

"Lu."

Lubao, who had been lying down, raised her head to glance at them before quietly getting up.

Liu Yao entered and opened the three boxes of energy pills from the bag.

The beasts eagerly dug in, eating with gusto and occasionally showing expressions of bliss.

Even though Lubao's expression wasn’t as animated as Yabao's or Little Treasure's, her slightly upturned lips and squinting eyes betrayed her satisfaction with the energy pills.

"When I suggested you compete in the senior year bracket, I never expected you'd advance so effortlessly." Liu Yao remarked.

Qiao Sang grinned.

"I didn’t expect it either."

She had thought qualifying for nationals would be an uphill battle. But with each match, both Yabao and Lubao evolved, gaining valuable combat experience. None of the matches felt overly challenging.

Sun Boyi added with a smile, "Vice-principal, you don’t know, Qiao Sang has improved remarkably fast. She’s excellent at devising strategies and can quickly adapt to unexpected situations in matches. She’s practically a natural-born professional beastmaster."

Qiao Sang straightened her back with pride.

"I know." Liu Yao nodded.

He had always recognized her exceptional talent at school, though he hadn’t realized just how extraordinary she truly was.

His tone turned serious as he continued, "However, at nationals, the competition will be on a whole different level. Every participant there is formidable."

"I’ll be careful." Qiao Sang assured him.

Liu Yao smiled, satisfied.

He had encountered many geniuses in his time. Though none as prodigious as Qiao Sang, most were arrogant, looking down on others once they achieved a bit of success.

While some could hide their disdain outwardly, it always showed through their behavior.

But Qiao Sang seemed genuinely humble.

"By the way."

Liu Yao asked, "Do you know a contestant named Song Xinyue?"

The name sounded familiar to Qiao Sang, but she couldn’t place it. After thinking for a moment, she shook her head.

"No, I don’t."

Sun Boyi turned to Liu Yao.

"Are you referring to Song Xinyue from Lianbo District?"

Liu Yao nodded, taking out a stack of documents from his briefcase and placing them on the coffee table. On top was a profile of Song Xinyue.

"This was compiled by Principal Wang. It contains information on all the contestants who advanced to nationals. He asked me to pass it along to you. I glanced through it on the plane and found an interesting contestant."

Wow, they even prepared a dossier for me… Qiao Sang’s eyes lit up as she eagerly picked up the documents.

Liu Yao continued, "Song Xinyue has a high-level fire-and-flying-type beast with a fire-absorption trait."

He paused, then asked, "You know what that trait does, right?"

Qiao Sang nodded.

"A beast with the fire-absorption trait isn’t affected by fire-based attacks and can even absorb flames to enhance its own fire skills."

"Exactly." Liu Yao said.

"According to her records, it’s rumored she once used her beginner-level beast, the Fire Summer Bird, to defeat a high-level fire beast, emerging unscathed despite facing fire-based attacks."n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

"I looked it up online at the hotel and found it to be true."

"That’s interesting. Even with the flame-absorption trait, it shouldn’t be possible for a beginner beast to withstand fire skills from a beast two levels higher." Sun Boyi said with a frown.

"Precisely." Liu Yao agreed.

"No beastmaster would willingly subject their beast to such a lopsided fight, especially when it’s at its weakest stage. Unless…"

Qiao Sang thought for a moment before realization struck.

"Could it be that the fire-absorption trait is A-level or higher?"
