Chapter 1: The Strongest Hotel System in the Apocalypse
Chapter 1
"Waaaah, big sister, wake up!"
"Big sister, the zombies are coming! Wake up, we can't carry you!"
Gu Wanyin opened her eyes, feeling as if her head was about to split open.
However, the pain quickly subsided. She looked up to see two scrawny kids in tattered clothes standing before her, a boy and a girl, both around four or five years old. Their faces were streaked with tears, making them look like little spotted cats.
They seemed to be in an abandoned factory.
Not far from them, several people with grotesque faces and blood-covered bodies were stumbling towards them.
No, they weren't people anymore, but... zombies!
Gu Wanyin acted swiftly, scooping up a child in each arm and running for her life.
Although she still didn't know what was happening, only a fool would stay put when faced with zombies!
But after just a few steps, she realized, to her dismay, that she had little strength left!
She could barely save herself, let alone two kids!
Gu Wanyin collapsed to the ground.
"Big sister, we'll help you up, quick..."
The little boy tried to support her arm, but he stumbled as soon as he stood up.
Watching more and more zombies approach, with over a dozen now closing in on them, Gu Wanyin's face was filled with despair.
Was this really happening just because she laughed at a hell joke, losing twenty years of good karma?
Surely she didn't deserve such a cruel death!
Just then, a mechanical voice suddenly rang out in her head: "Ding! Congratulations, host. You have been bound to the Ultimate Apocalypse Hotel System. Preparing to open a transfer portal."
A system?
And the Ultimate Apocalypse Hotel at that?
The mechanical voice in her head continued: "Three, two, one, portal opened."
Suddenly, a gate of light appeared before Gu Wanyin!
She hesitated for only two seconds before grabbing a child in each hand and leaping into the light portal with all her might.
In an instant, the scene before her changed.
Gone was the abandoned factory and the terrifying zombies. Instead, she found herself in a large square with a lone building standing in the center.
Gu Wanyin looked around. The light portal had vanished.
There was no one else around.
Just her and the two bewildered children.
"Big sister," the little girl clung tightly to her, "where are we? Are... are the zombies gone?"
"Did we survive?" the boy asked, confused.
Gu Wanyin rubbed her temples and had the two children stand in front of her. She then asked, "Who are you two? Why do you call me big sister? And what's the deal with the zombies?"
As soon as she said this, the children's expressions changed from confusion to terror.
"Big sister, what's wrong? I'm Cola!"
"Big sister, I'm Hamburger! Don't you remember us?"
Cola? Hamburger?
Gu Wanyin was about to criticize what kind of parents would give their children such casual names when she suddenly remembered a novel she had read a few days ago. It had two children named Cola and Hamburger!
More importantly, the book also had a cannon fodder character with the same name as her!
In the book, Gu Wanyin grew up in an orphanage and was now nineteen years old. A year and a half ago, she had just received her college acceptance letter and was working hard during summer break to earn tuition money.
Cola and Hamburger were also children from the orphanage. Cola was a six-year-old boy, and Hamburger was a five-year-old girl. They adored Gu Wanyin and treated her like a real older sister.
Gu Wanyin also loved them very much, treating them like her own younger siblings.
However, a year and a half ago, the apocalypse suddenly arrived.
Extreme cold, extreme heat, zombie threats, earthquakes that could strike at any moment...
Gu Wanyin had been separated from the others from the orphanage during their escape, with only Cola and Hamburger by her side.
They struggled to survive in the apocalyptic world for over a year, only to finally be bitten to death by zombies.
So... had she somehow transmigrated? Into the body of the Gu Wanyin from the book who shared her name?
The scene she saw when she first opened her eyes must have been the moment when Gu Wanyin, Cola, and Hamburger were about to be bitten to death.
But because of the Ultimate Apocalypse Hotel System, they had been transported here.
"Big sister! Don't scare us!" Hamburger looked at her pitifully, her big eyes brimming with tears.
Gu Wanyin sighed.
She had always been an optimist. Now that she was here, she had no choice but to make the best of it and survive.
The question was, what exactly was this Ultimate Apocalypse Hotel System?
At that moment, the mechanical voice in her head spoke again: "Please escort your family members into the hotel and follow the instructions to complete the setup. Aim to open for business as soon as possible."
Well, let's go in and see what happens.
Without the threat of zombies, Gu Wanyin felt a bit of strength returning. She led Cola and Hamburger towards the building.
The building had glass doors that opened easily when Gu Wanyin pushed them.
The first floor was the hotel lobby. Gu Wanyin immediately spotted the front desk with a machine on it, though she wasn't sure what it was for.
There was also a lounge area nearby with several sofas and a coffee table.
Further inside, she could see three elevators and two stairway entrances.
"Big sister, where are we?" Cola asked curiously. "Is there no one here? No zombies either?"
"No, don't worry," Gu Wanyin reassured him.
She had read plenty of novels herself.
Since this was her bound system, surely no outsiders or zombies could enter freely.
"Welcome to the hotel, host. New task unlocked: Name the hotel," the mechanical voice announced again.
Gu Wanyin thought for a moment and said in her mind: "Let's call it the Peace Hotel."
In the midst of an apocalypse, living in peace and safety would be everyone's greatest wish, right?
She also hoped to keep Cola and Hamburger safe and sound...
"Congratulations, host. Task completed. Rewards unlocked: One master room, Room 201, and unlimited instant noodles."
"I understand the guest room and unlimited instant noodles, but what's the master room?"
"The master room is where the host and her family can stay. It's on the first floor. Walk forward and turn left."
Gu Wanyin led Cola and Hamburger forward and then turned left. Sure enough, they saw a door.
She reached out to push it open and was immediately stunned.
Cola and Hamburger's jaws dropped as well.
The room was enormous, with a bed big enough for four or five people, floor-to-ceiling windows with curtains, soft carpets, a sofa, table and chairs, wardrobe, computer, TV, air conditioner...
It had every piece of furniture one could think of.
Moreover, the room came with its own bathroom and kitchen!
She led the children inside and saw a sink, toilet, several clean towels, toilet paper, three sets of toiletries, and even sanitary napkins in the bathroom!
There were even various skincare products and cosmetics!
The bathing area had a large bathtub, shower head, heat lamp, bath towels, and more...
The kitchen was fully equipped with pots, pans, utensils, a refrigerator, and everything else one might need!
The wardrobe was packed full of clothes, with sizes suitable for her, Cola, and Hamburger!
In short, everything Gu Wanyin could think of, and even things she couldn't, were all there.
"S-System, is this room mine? Can I use everything in here? Can my little brother and sister use them too?"
