Absolute Death Game

Chapter 73 Soul Reaper

Xiao Buli was taken aback and subconsciously removed his eyepatch from the helmet's position, restoring the vision to normal, but the wall was now completely bare, showing no sign of anomaly.

Upon putting it back on, the figure once again appeared; observing closely, it seemed to maintain a sitting posture, which was very odd.

"Captain, there seems to be something behind the wall."

Upon hearing this, Zhang Yaoyang inquired in detail, and Xiao Buli explained the situation in a few words, immediately putting everyone on edge.

Du Yibo said, "Captain, should I blast the wall open?" As the game allowed for destructible environments, he was quite fond of playing the role of a demolition team.

Zhang Yaoyang pondered for a moment but then shook his head, "Wang Gang, is the light screen at the entrance to the instance still there?"

"It's been there all along," Wang Gang and Yaoyao answered together.

Just as he thought, Zhang Yaoyang mused, once an instance in the game was cleared, the light screen at the entrance would naturally disappear, signaling the end of the instance. The fact that the light screen hadn't vanished meant the instance wasn't over, and something like a hidden boss might very well be behind that wall.

"Everyone, eat and drink for recovery quickly, Wang Gang, with our few people, you go into the instance," he said.

The team sat down to eat if they needed to eat, meditated if they needed to meditate, and Xiao Buli also began to meditate. Although he hadn't been the main healer, he had spent quite a bit of mana on casting Ethereal Armor and Resurrection Skills for others, and even with the supplements from elixirs, he hadn't been able to keep his mana full. He truly needed to recover now.

It wasn't long before Wang Gang rushed in.

After more than ten minutes, everyone's health points, physical strength, mana, internal energy, and all kinds of other messy stuff were fully restored, and Zhang Yaoyang nodded, "Let's get our buffs up and prepare for battle. Considering the fight might be triggered immediately after the wall breaks, let's get our formation ready first."

They had already buffed up when they first entered the instance, but due to the long duration of the fight, many buffs had expired. At the captain's command, a series of colorful glows flashed among the team.

Du Yibo bestowed Rock Skin on the close-combat fighters, Bai Yunfei bestowed Evil-Repelling Skills on everyone, Hua Yueying bestowed Spirit Armor Skills, and as for Xiao Buli — his level of Spirit Armor Skills was too low, so he didn't waste much mana.

Besides that, a whole array of Amulets with various effects from Xuanwu Group were bestowed as well. Though only one boss remained and it seemed wasteful, they couldn't care less about that now for the sake of safety.

Once everything was ready, the formation still arranged as 3-5-2, Xiao Buli and Hua Yueying were positioned at the very back of the team.

Seeing that everyone was ready, Zhang Yaoyang gave the nod, "Blast the wall."

Upon hearing the order, Du Yibo began casting, and a fireball in his hand grew larger and more blinding. The Five Elements Warlock's Fireball Technique could be charged, and the longer the charging time, the greater the power, with a certain level of charge even adding explosive splash damage. He hadn't dared to use it before for fear of injuring teammates, but now he had no such concerns.

Du Yibo charged his fireball for a full 10 seconds, the fireball getting as large as a washbasin before he released it.

Ten-stage Charged — Fireball Technique!

With a deafening explosion, the violent shockwave blasted half of the wall into dust, revealing a hidden chamber behind it. It was a vast hall with a stone path leading straight to the end, where dry, headless corpses littered both sides of the aisle—stacked haphazardly as if left by enslaved workers. The gruesomely realistic special effects nearly matched those from certain horror games.

Enshrouded in a black cloak, a figure sat on a throne made of skulls at the far end of the hall. The boss's name was—Soul Reaper Yan Qi (Abyssal Demon Clan).

Upon seeing the boss's name, Xiao Buli was momentarily taken aback. Just an elite with a deep blue name? This didn't make sense. The previous three bosses were silver-named, so why was this hidden boss so weak? But then, he understood when he saw the suffix. The Demon Clan and the human race shouldn't be considered part of the same system, just as a white-named tiger could defeat an Elite Wild Boar.

Although this member of the Demon Clan was only an elite, perhaps he was much more formidable than the prior three human minor bosses.

The group tread carefully through the horrific corridor to the throne where the boss resided. Hua Yueying cast Mind Revelation on the Soul Reaper, revealing a health pool of 8000 points. Everyone's heart shuddered at the sight, and as if sensing something, the boss suddenly lifted his head.

Soul Reaper Yan Qi: "Foolish mortals, you dare to meddle with the grand designs of the Demon Clan. This shall not be tolerated—all must—die!"

After uttering some rather unoriginal lines, the boss stood up from his throne. His figure wasn't imposing, but as he stepped down from his throne, the ground beneath him erupted into flames. His aura was so intense that even the seasoned Green Dragon Group felt a shiver down their spines.

"Leader, maybe we should pull back," someone suggested, but it was too late. The boss waved his hand, and dark mists billowed around them, flames raging, engulfing the entire hall and even cutting off their retreat—a situation they had never encountered before.

"Everyone, fight your damned hardest. I don't want us to wipe here," barked Zhang Yaoyang, his voice cracking with tension. No one dared to object; they all understood that this time, they might truly be facing a foe like no other. One misstep could spell total annihilation.

Xiao Buli's palms were sweating, and he silently cursed his luck to be involved in a battle of such difficulty on his first day with the Green Dragon Group.

"Zhao Yunlong, Wang Gang, pull the minor monsters! Wu Tao, get ready to take on the BOSS!"

Armor is meaningless before a magic system BOSS; instead, Qigong Masters, with their certain spell resistances, prove to be more useful. Wu Tao, without a second thought, stepped forward and launched a basketball-sized, semi-transparent Qigong Wave at the target.

Bang—33.

The boss, hit by the Qigong Wave, immediately retaliated. With a lift of his hand, a black fireball hurtled toward them.

In an instant, two layers of protective shield enveloped Wu Tao. With a booming sound, flames dissipated, both shields vanished, but Wu Tao's health points scarcely decreased.

Relieved, Zhang Yaoyang took a slight breath.

"Keep me healed. I'm going in!" Wu Tao roared as he leaped forward, charging at the boss. Meanwhile, Zhao Yunlong and Wang Gang flanked him from both sides.
