Chapter 6: Saviour
Chapter 6: Saviour
POV: Captain of Special Forces rescue team
After telling Charlie about the level five air support, I looked over to see if my medic was finished doing the treatment. It seemed he stilled needed some time as I saw him trying to seal up and disinfect major wounds.
I switched radio communications to my squads to inform them about the news. "Hostage has been found and secured, we are going to need a little time to treat his wounds. Make sure our sensor is looking for a path that leads to a southern exit point." I told my squad letting them know our first goal has been accomplished, but we still have many more to go. "Roger" said everyone, letting me know that my orders were heard.
Getting this kid out of here is going to be a challenge. One of my guys is going to have to carry him while we make our way out of the city. Although we are going to have heavy air support it only takes one tiny bullet to end his life since he's already on deaths door.
I turned around and walked to the edge of this massive crater facing a tall wall of dirt and rocks. I took out a cigarette while having a tiny flame come out of my index finger and lit it up. I started to smoke and think of multiple plans if anything were to happen and how I would go over such hurdles if they were to arise.
"BANG"
A loud noise came into my left ear as I felt rocks along with dirt hitting my body. I looked down to my left and saw my medic was in a sitting position planted inside the wall. The cigarette fell out of my mouth as I felt a mountain of bloodlust come crashing down onto me.
I turned my head to look behind me and saw our hostage up on his feet with only pants and shoes on. His upper body and face were littered with horrendous scars and he only stood 5 feet and 6 inches tall which was quite short.
'How the hell is he even able to move! Let alone stand up and be able to hit our medic that hard sending him crashing in the wall like a damn ragdoll!' I yelled in my mind because what he was doing in front of my own very eyes was astonishing.
'Not only that, but his control over his bloodlust is also mind boggling since my squad members haven't even made their way down here meaning they can't sense it!' I yelled once again in my mind as if knowing this would be any help to my current predicament.
"Azr." I tried to say his name and tell him we weren't his enemies but before I could do so a freezing deep voice filled my ears and made me shut my mouth.
"Fucking zip it you scumbag, what the hell was your buddy over there touching my body for." Azrail said with bloodshot eyes showing how livid he was currently feeling.
'Oh no...I fucked up big time, has this kid been sexually assaulted before??' I questioned in my mind since if he was then we just made him remember such a horrific memory.
I took my left hand off my weapon making my rifle hang right where my stomach is and put both my hands up showing I was no threat to him. "Azrail we are the Volestians sent to rescue you, remember you sent up the emergency signal." I said with a very slow and low voice trying to put his mind a little more at ease.
"Oh... I see." Azrail said with a freezing cold voice, but his bloodlust has calmed down significantly and now we are just staring at one another.
"I'm going to go over to you now to continue the treatment, don't hit me this time you little shit." Voiced out my medic with a frustrated tone who was already standing right next to me.
"Okay." Said Azrail who seemed to be not much of a talker when his emotions are in check. Although I will say his voice is one scary thing to listen to.
My medic and I walked over to him and while he was treating him, I wanted to know how he was currently feeling emotionally and physically.
"Tell me kid about how you are feeling? Do you think you'll be able to move around at all?" I questioned him hoping he was at least able to move around so that we didn't have to have someone carry him.
"I can move around, just not as fast as you guys and only for about forty minutes." Stated Azrail who was currently laying down while our medic was at work.
"That is more than enough then, we are still in the city, but we will have heavy air support and we can move at your pace since I believe we are near the exit point from this location." I told him with while he simply gave me a head nod.
I turned on my radio which connected to my team and asked. "Have you found a path yet and if you have how long will it take moving at a walking pace?"
Our sensor was the one to answer my question stating. "Yes sir I have found a path, if we were to move at a walking pace, I believe we would make it there in about twenty minutes."
This was great news to my ears, as soon as we make it out of the city, we will have someone carry him to go all the way to the extract point which would be a lot less risky.
"Roger that." I said with my voice sounding very happy like an old man whose grandkids visited them.
"BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRT" "BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRT"
"TRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRT" "TRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRT"
The sounds of a fighter's jets weapons going off were heard by everyone letting them know that they were not alone in this battle. The sounds will be heard a lot more often giving us the opportunity to not have any fights and only focus on making it out of the city.
"I'm finally finished captain; we can finally leave now." My medic said as he was helping Azrail stand up then he went into a crouched position. "Get on you little shit and don't you dare give me back talk." He told the boy, while the boy looked at him with a confused gaze.
"....Get. on. my. back." He said to the boy which he finally did making them look like quite the duo together which brought a little smile to my face. 'They remind me of how I was with my son when he was a youngster..' I thought to myself while remembering the good times I had with my family over the years.
