Chapter 23: Capabilities
Chapter 23: Capabilities
POV: Azrail Diggory
"Tch, fucking hate this guy already. Well at least my clothes didn't rip apart."
I was walking on the sidewalk heading over to the infirmary to get my body patched up. That monster hit me with an air attack, so my internal organs are killing me.
Luckily, he had the decency to finally take the handcuffs off after arguing with me for awhile.
After a couple minutes of walking, I entered the room to see that no one was around. Only 6 beds with white sheets could be seen as well as cupboards spread across the walls, which I assumed held medical supplies.
"Hello? Is anyone there?" I asked out loud.
"Yes, how may I help you Mr.?" A beautiful voice resounded throughout the room, it had a very gentle and soft tone to it.
I couldn't see where the voice came from though and was looking around the room to see if I missed something. In the back right corner a desk seemingly popped out of nowhere with a beautiful woman sitting by it.
Although I was scared shitless by her magic trick, I was too stunned by her looks to care.
"Hi ughhh, I'm Azrail. I just need some painkillers and I'll be out of your way."
The woman gave me a small smile and made her way to one of the many cupboards in the room. She grabbed a small pill bottle and tossed it my way.
"Take two of every six hours, if the pain doesn't calm down make sure to come back here. Also, my name is Lisa. I tend to hide often because the men here think they have a chance, so don't be surprised if you don't see me in the room, I'm simply hiding from them."
"Ah I see, yeah that must suck. I'll be leaving now see yah."
Holding onto my pill bottle I made my way out of the infirmary and back to where my instructor was.
I really did not want to hold a conversation with that woman because my instincts told me to run. It is said that beauty is able to start wars and I'm starting to believe it now.
I took two of the pills and arrived back where I was before. The building had a big hole in it now with everything inside it being ash. Good news is that the ceiling for the room was not damaged at all. The construction crew did an amazing job with that.
"Alright kid follow me and I will talk along the way. Do not ask any questions, just listen to me." The man said, I still didn't learn his name yet, but I didn't want to because he was on my shit list.
I stayed silent though and decided to listen to what he had to say.
"Espionage is basically what you'll be doing at this academy. You are now considered what's commonly known as a spy. Spies are given the job to gather intelligence and information not known by the other side. The location you're doing this in will make your mission borderline impossible with your current skill set."
"This is why I was tasked teaching you; I am one of the best agents the VIA has to offer and I have no mission to do myself giving me the time to teach you. Our agents are usually always busy, so you can consider yourself lucky on that aspect."
"Your combat skills are well above average, your control over your mental state and emotions though is below average. Your control over your Ki and mana are quite good, but not at the level where you could mask their presence. Your acting skills and conversation skills are also below average. Do you disagree with what I'm saying so far?"
"No sadly, you are correct. The only thing I was taught was actual combat. My other skills you brought up were self taught."
"I see, well then we will mostly skip teaching you combat as I believe the school will do a better job at that. I'll be teaching you skills to be a spy and only that. The rest you will learn at the school, so pick your classes wisely when you get the chance."
We arrived at yet another room and walked in. Funnily enough this room was the same as the last, besides the table having nothing on it.
We sat down on opposite couches yet again and stared at one another.
"Let's start with this, to what extent are you able to control your emotions and are you able to fully kill them making you not be able to feel anything?"
"I don't think I'm able to fully kill them yet, I can kill some, but not all of them. Also, I can control them decently well, I use anger a lot to my advantage especially in combat scenarios, but fear is one I have no control over."
"Good we will work on that a lot; we need you being able to completely kill all of them before you leave, this is vital. Fear will be the main priority; you will be experiencing it a lot while doing more dangerous tasks, so we cannot let it affect you."
"What about understanding other people's emotions and relationships? Are you capable of controlling others on an emotional level and are you able to destroy built relationships?"
"To some extent yes, but that would only go for the normal populace, as for these prodigies that are my age and considering they are different races, probably not at all."
"At least you are self-aware about this, honestly speaking this task will most likely be the lowest priority considering its difficultly and benefit from achieving it. I would suggest you merely focus on observation and if you see opportunities take them. For example, becoming friends or even a partner with someone from the Elven race would be massive."
"Don't they absolutely hate us though and isn't it the same for us? We have done some awful things to one another, so I can't imagine that happening."
"There's your mistake, do not doubt yourself at all. This is very possible because maybe a higher up like an Elven royal would want change. Let's say they want a closer relationship with all the races, it is your job to use this opportunity to its fullest."
I took in all the points the man was making and they all made sense. I have to stop doubting myself and only focus on the goal of achieving success. If change were to happen, I believe the younger generation would start it.
