CH.401 Status after the Spiritual Adventure

CH.401 Status after the Spiritual Adventure

During breakfast, I gave everyone the basic rundown of what happened in the spirit world, including the part where the spirit world is also in trouble because of the ‘miasma blobs’.

I got some mixed reactions from my workers. A lot of them looked worried, likely because they realized just how big of a problem this world was really facing. I mean, if even the spirits, beings that exist in a separate reality, are affected, then things must be bad.

And I know you might think that I shouldn’t scare my workers, but I say that they need to know this stuff. It is important. If things get worse and multiple fissures start appearing at the same time, I’ll need people who can handle them. At the end of the day, I can’t be at two places at the same time.

After that little show, I focused on what I could see now. Mainly, what happened to my status.

Spoiler

So yeah. Quite a bit happened to my status. Mainly I got five new titles, the four blessings from the superior spirits, as well as the Friend of the Spirits title. The blessings are simple. They would boost my affinity with the attribute magics, if I had them, and allowed me to use the ‘summon elemental spirit’ skills. And since I got the blessings of the superior spirits, I can summon any spirit of that attribute. Compared to something like Rain’s blessing, I could only summon her, as well as lesser and intermediate spirits that belong to her direct family.

Friend of the Spirits just boosts my Spirit Magic, by the way. I think that title is part of the reason why Spirit Magic leveled up twice.

And perhaps because of all the blessings I have, or maybe the Friend of the Spirits title, I got a new race unlocked in One of Every Race called Spiritual Being. It is somewhat similar to Spiritual Human, but even more spirit-like. I’m almost completely a spirit when I turn into that race. But it doesn’t really come with a lot of advantages, other than boosting my Spirit Magic more than Spiritual Human, so I’m not sure I’ll use it all that much.

Also, I think it is interesting that I have almost 10,000 mana. With just a bit more, I’ll be able to power up a Mega Ton Magical Cannon entirely on my own.

Spoiler

After my status, I looked over Lua’s.Last time shown in CH.364

Spoiler

I don’t know how Lua’s status realistically compares to mine. The growth is also impressive, but it is different from mine. I just got a bunch of blessings, and while they are nice, they didn’t do to me what they did to Lua. Both her Water and Light Magic evolved. Though for some reason, her Mana Control didn’t, so hopefully that won’t be a problem for her. Maybe mine evolved because I was playing the songs using mana? Could also be because I went through that mana circuit advancement thing when I eliminated the HomeBase’s old dungeon core, but I’m not sure.

Lua also didn’t get the Friend of the Spirits title. Again, don’t ask me why. I don’t know how the System titles work.

Last, Alice.Alice's status was last shown in CH.355

Spoiler

Alice is a lot like Lua. Her Fire and Dark Magics evolved and she got the Summon Spirit skills.

“Come on Brian. I want to.” Alice was begging me to help her advance her mana circuits, so hopefully her Mana Control would evolve.

“I’m not strapping you into a literal torture device just so you can get skills.” I told her.

“... then can you at least work on a way we can do it that isn’t torture?”

“... there is a way, but it doesn’t come cheap. I can use an SS-rank monster core to make an artificial rogue dungeon. Then I’d charge the core with a lot of mana before you eliminate it and the rush of power should advance your mana circuits.”

“Then why aren’t we doing that?” Alice asked.

“... Because the SS-rank core will break. And I’d really rather not waste them for that.”

“Would it really be a waste?” Lua asked.

“Yeah. I want to use my Behemoth core for this.” Alice said.

“I could use the Fenrir core.” Lua said.

“I said no. Until I have at least 10 SS-cores, we are not using them for this.” I denied them. It isn’t that I don’t want to evolve their skills, but honestly, there has to be a different way.

“... that’s no fun. Aren’t they our cores?” Alice asked.

“They are, but I don’t want you to be so impulsive.” I told them. “... and I do have an alternative, but it is slower.”

“Why didn’t you start with that?”

“Because you were all ready to be strapped into a torture device. And what I’m offering is just marginally better.” I told Alice. “... it’s a mana spring. Using Spring of Rebirth, I’d make a healing spring somewhere on HomeBase. Then just guide excess mana to the spring and it should turn into a mana spring. By bathing in it and focusing on running all that mana throughout your body, it should basically supercharge your mana control and force your body to move mana beyond its regular limits. Thus forcing your mana circuits to quickly grow.”

“... and we are not doing that because?” Alice asked.

“Because I wasn’t sure it was worth it. Your mana control hasn’t really been a limiting factor, so I didn’t want to offer painful training methods. But now that I know about Advanced Mana Control, it might be worth it.”

“So no to a torture device, but yes to a torture bath.” Lua recapped.

“It isn’t torture, just a bit painful. And you can adjust the level of pain yourself, because at the end of the day, you are the limiting factor with the mana spring.”

“... How soon can you make it?” Alice asked.

“A few days. Today is a rest day anyway, and tomorrow I’ll … we’ll return to the spirit world to wake up the Time and Space spirits. Maybe see if we can wake up the superior Nature spirit as well, though I’d like Cailie to do that. And then ask if there are any other superior spirits I don’t yet know about.”

“Alright. But I’ll be holding you to it.” Alice said.

The last thing of the day I wanted to do is test out if my spirit summoning skills are different now that I have blessings from superior spirits. I wasn’t going to train or anything, just a quick skill check.

I decided to call Gaia. Truthfully I really wanted to summon Anemoi, so that she could check up on the evolving Cailie, but only Cailie has her blessing. So I went with the next best choice of Gaia.

“Summon Earth Spirit.” I said the skill name, and when I did, I felt a pull of mana inside of me. It felt like my body was trying to ask how much mana I wanted to use. From my estimation, I could use around 100, 300, 700 or 1000 mana, each amount likely equating to a lesser, intermediate, greater and then finally the superior spirits.

I of course went with the full 1000.

After using the skill, I felt the earth under my feet move. It consolidated and then crystalized, forming a humanoid body that was made of crystal. I have no idea how Gaia just turned literal dirt into crystal, but I won’t question her about it.

“Hello Gaia. Sorry I called you, but I wanted to test out the new skill.”

“It is no issue, son-in-spirit.” She responded, as she stretched her body. She then looked around, and was seemingly happy with what she saw. “So this is where you live. Not quite a castle, but a nice palace.”

“... It’s actually a citadel, but whatever.”

“Exactly. Home is home.” Gaia agreed. “How long can you keep me here?” She then asked.

I quickly checked my mana, and noticed it was draining slowly. Well, slow is relative. I was losing about 1 mana about every 2 seconds. With that drain, considering the summoning cost of 1000, I could keep Gaia here for over 4 hours. And I can also refill my mana by pulling mana from HomeBase, so I can keep her here as long as I want. … well, she might be able to return on her own as well.

“For hours.” I responded.

“Then perhaps a quick tour would be fine. I want to see my niece and maybe that Wilma person you mentioned. You don’t have to bring her to me, if I can come to her.”

“Sure.” I naturally agreed.

The tour of HomeBase was nothing special. Gaia did enjoy some sights, mainly she really liked how HomeBase was a massive flying rock, saying that she should make floating rocks in her domain.

She was also very happy to see the evolution tank Cailie was in, complimenting the technology I used to help the evolution process.

Of course not all could be perfect, as Paulina noticed us and challenged Gaia to a fight in order to get a spirits blessing. … only to get destroyed in 2 seconds when Gaia encased her in a crystal that Paulina couldn’t break.

We also visited Wilma, and while Gaia was somewhat impressed by her work, she also said Wilma wasn’t ready for a superior blessing, because of her low Earth Magic level. I think that is because the superior blessings seem to cause the skill evolution, so for Wilma who has her Earth Magic at only level 2, the evolved skill might be too difficult to control.

Eventually Gaia left back to the spirit world. I told her we would come back tomorrow, in our time, and asked her to tell Anemoi that Cailie was doing fine. Gaia agreed to that, and soon left. Her crystal body broke apart, turning back into the dirt it was originally made from.

“... that really doesn’t make any sense. How do you turn dirt into a flawless crystal only for it to turn back into dirt?” I wondered.
